As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Nationals furious with Tony Abbott's ousting and demand Malcolm Turnbull take them seriously
Several Nationals MPs, "disgusted" with the way Tony Abbott has been treated, are threatening they will not work as part of a Coalition Government unless certain demands are met.
Many senior Nationals deeply dislike Malcolm Turnbull over the way he acted on carbon pricing when opposition leader in 2009, while others are pushing for the party to abandon its ministerial positions and become more independent in the Parliament.
i wonder what the nationals are up to??
Probably going for election to goverment at the next election, with a good chance too.
Furious Lib voters will no longer vote for the Liberal Party aftr the dumping to TA, and Bill Shorten's ALP is unelectable.
Might finally break the Lib/Lab turn and turnabout.

If you read the whole article you would notice e.g.
Veiled threats from Nationals members about the future of the Coalition have been dismissed by others in the party as a chest-beating exercise.
The Nationals have made similar veiled threats during times of Coalition uncertainty before and have failed to follow through.
Perhaps a glimmer of reality from the ABC article:
"Meanwhile, other Nationals were upset Mr Turnbull did not pay tribute to their party in his first press conference."
"They want their leader Warren Truss to do policy deals, or get extra cash, to help regional Australia."
"What rubbish," one Liberal MP said when asked about the Nationals' concerns."
"What do the Nats seriously think they can achieve on their own? They'll rattle the cage then roll over."
Would that be NAT picking ?
I know, get them to post some comments and then give them a few of the free flowing

A fairly kind speech from Shorten on abbott in QT today I thought, but darn rude of the minister for infrastructure not to show up. Both rudd and gillard both turned up after they were rolled.

????? minister for infrastructure = Warren Truss
2.40pm: Mr Turnbull has begun Question Time by saying the parliament and country owes Tony Abbott “an enormous debt of gratitude” for his leadership and service.
Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss also praised Abbott, whom he described as “the infrastructure prime minister”.
He recalled that, during his down time, Abbott would cycle farther and faster than most people. “I suspect the AFP might be relieved to have someone who’s a bit slower — I’m sorry, Malcolm,” the Nationals leader said.
Truss said it was a “great pleasure” to serve alongside Abbott for five years, describing him as a person with a “vision for Australia”. Truss also acknowledged Abbott’s wife Margie, who he said wasn’t a particularly political person and was “happier doing other things”.

"perhaps I should've said minister for women"
As opposed to "minister for infrastructure", yes, then it would have been correct.
