We wonder if Margie will be joining the French party or steering well clear?
If we're all still talking about Ainsley Gotto nearly 50 years after she ran John Gorton's PMO, Abbott's Last Tango Near Paris will certainly be one for the history books.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

@monman12 wrote:"but that's OK, I don't read all of your posts either" Or political history ?
Post 14802 :
"In 2002 under the Howard government, Tony Abbott appointed Mr Lawler to the Industrial Relations Commission, the predecessor to the Fair Work Commission. Mr Lawler can only be removed by agreement between both houses of Federal parliament.
no matter what 'spin' you put on it.... lawler was appointed by abbottthe papers are not wrong.. you are.
Lawler was appointed by Abbott when he was a minister under Howard, not as you have posted:as i already mentioned he was another one of abbotts 'captain's picks'
Mr Lawler, a former barrister, was appointed by Prime Minister Tony Abbott to a $435,000-a-year position at the commission
For goodness sake, it is exactly the same meaning
abbott appointed Lawler when abbott was a minister under howard
abbott appointed Lawler under the Howard govt ... I probably put it that way because you kept claiming that abbott didn't appoint Lawler

"Mr Lawler can only be removed by agreement between both houses of Federal parliament." CORRECT, I have mentioned protocols earlier
Actually that should read....." Mr Lawler can only be removed by agreement of both houses of Federal parliament."
Why? Again it means exactly what it says
This would indicate to those interested in political history, not just C&Ps, that the Circus could have removed Lawler, with independents help, and didn't, and the Coalition, upon discovering that Jackson was in the familiar mould of union officials used to nicking members funds, wanted to and couldn't !
Well that's not true ( and it's also laughable) , when did the coalition want to remove jackson or Lawler.. Jackson was their golden girl , as pointed out in the glowing character references shown ( by pyne and abbott) and abbott appointed his mate lawler

Geez, I hope taxpayers aren't footing the bill for this
Sounds like a COS-y reunion: Former prime minister Tony Abbott to be joined by Peta Credlin and other former staffers for holiday in French villa

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-10-25/hockey-urged-not-to-double-dip-as-ambassador/6883254
Former treasurer Joe Hockey is being urged not to draw from his parliamentary pension if he becomes ambassador to the United States, as a by-election date is pencilled in for his seat.
"I just want to help Joe Hockey fulfil his dream of ending the age of entitlement by Joe Hockey setting an example for the rest of us," he said.
"What Joe Hockey can do is to refuse to accept his parliamentary pension in addition to getting $330,000 a year as ambassador."
i hope he doesn't double dip and add to our budget emergency

"Geez, I hope taxpayers aren't footing the bill for this"
It is so heartening to see some "interest" in matters concerning the burden taxpayers might possibly have to shoulder. However, I decided to read the link in full (research) and also its FR reference and noticed this:
"..........So, about that Margaret Thatcher lecture that Tony Abbott is delivering in London on Tuesday night – you know, the privately funded trip............" Phew!
Oh gosh my actual researching also uncovered this, which was mentioned above:

Snow business as Prime Minister Tony Abbott hits the slopes with Peta Credlin and daughter Frances

this article your'e quoting from is written very 'tongue in cheek", so i wouldn't be too sure
where is your information about his ski trip with peta Credlin being privately funded??
This is going to be pretty hard for some of you to get your heads around, so I guess I better just tell it to you straight:
So, about that Margaret Thatcher lecture that Tony Abbott is delivering in London on Tuesday night – you know, the privately funded trip which, according to the former PM's office, he's being accompanied on with...?
We wonder if Margie will be joining the French party or steering well clear?

"where is your information about his ski trip with peta Credlin being privately funded??"
Oh gosh is Google broken again?
News.com
The speculation is he might also be able to schedule a royal meeting during the private visit.
The FR is normally adept with facts ( and grimy innuendo in that link), but as you say it is "tongue in cheek", would that mean the whole post is also, or just the imagined/yummy bits?
Harvey Shorten was recently roused from his lay-by and also attempted to play the person, which was a complete failure judging by his recent poll figures, is it just a diversionary tactic when nothing else is working, or do the ALP also have a broken Google connection?

just post the link.. I can't be bothered looking for it... and selected C& P's just aren't credible without the full story

you posted only one sentence from the whole article, you chose the article, that's why I posted the link
