Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

http://www.skynews.com.au/business/business/national/2015/12/03/nbn-faces-another-cost-blowout--repo...

The company building the National Broadband Network is facing a ten-fold blowout on the cost of fixing the copper network it bought from Telstra.

According to The Australian newspaper, confidential documents show a $640 million bill to repair or replace parts of the lines to ensure the network will deliver the promised high speeds.

The NBN expects to spend $26,115 per node to fix the copper connections - up from the $2685 assumption in a 2013 strategic review prepared after the Coalition won power - ten-fold blowout on the cost of fixing the copper network it bought from Telstra.

Tony Abbott, Australia's most famous monarchist, asked to see the Queen, but she declined.

Mr Abbott, invited to give the Margaret Thatcher oration, was in London from October 26 to 28.

The Queen's daily schedule, which is published by the Palace, shows that she had only two appointments on the 26th and was apparently free in the evening.

On the 27th she hosted a morning reception and had an evening meeting with Britain's Prime Minister David Cameron but nothing in between.

And on the third and final day of Mr Abbott's trip she had no appointments all day but gave a reception in the evening, according to her published diary.

Ms Bishop still intended to vote for him until he later offered her job as deputy to another minister, Scott Morrison. At that, she considered herself no longer bound to vote for the leader.

that bolded sentence is interesting . I had no idea abbott had offered Morrison Julie Bishops job to try and save himself  at the last minute

here's one for the Cory Bendardi fans

Cory Bernardi crosses floor and unleashes on Turnbull over tax disclosure backflip

Liberal senator Cory Bernardi has crossed the floor for a second time in a fortnight and fired a warning shot to Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to better consult the party room, after a midnight deal was struck with the Greens to overturn Liberal policy on private companies disclosing their tax affairs.

The Liberals opposed the former Gillard government's policy of forcing private companies and entities that turn over $100 million or more a year to disclose their tax affairs, saying it would lead to simplistic naming and shaming of companies and individuals over the value of their tax bills

BHP, Rio quietly exit coal: report

Australia's largest miners BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto have begun their exit from coal, quietly selling coal mines and appearing unlikely to approve new ones, according to The Australian Financial Review.

Neither company has publicly stated their position to exit the thermal coal market, but activist outfit 350.org chief executive Blair Palese said: "BHP and Rio have pretty much got out of thermal coal, but most people in Australia, particularly the politicians, have not woken up to this fact," according to the report.

The AFR report also cites analysts who say BHP and Rio want to reduce thermal coal investments but don't want to jeopardise mine sales by signalling they think coal has no future.

Rio's thermal coal production has fallen 85 per cent since 2008, while BHP's has halved.

interesting that both BHP and Rio are exiting coal while our govt are building our future on it

I wonder who is wrong??
