Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Yes he has if police don't proceed its because the evidence is simply not there and will not stand up in a court of law.  She could pursue the matter in the civil court but the problem is that will be extremely difficult for her.  There are a lot of false allegations out there and no one should have their life ruined by one.  The police do a thorough job and if there was anything there they would have proceeded.

So even though officially the outcome is  'not proceeding with charges' its as good as being cleared (none gets a cleared outcome as such) and his life should not be affected by it.  its a terrible thing.  If  its not true and made up I hope the police consider charges against the accuser.

Please correct me if I am wrong about this, but wasn't the proposed $7.00 co-payment originally touted as all of the $5.00 going to the Medical Research Fund and $2.00 the treating practioner got to keep. Now this liebral government has said:- The government is again defending its proposed GP co-payment, saying the policy is an "essential structural reform" that will reduce net debt. Finance Minister Mathias Cormann says the fund will stay as an asset on the government's balance sheet in perpetuity, reducing debt by $20 billion once it has accumulated. Only the investment returns are spent on medical research, he says. https://au.news.yahoo.com/a/24780412/medical-fund-will-reduce-debt-govt/

I think you're about the $5.00 going to medical research kimmi. Personally I never saw the sense in a research centre when at the same time they've cut funding to the CSIRO and generally want to make science degrees pretty expensive & difficult to to acquire.

IMO they are just trying a different tactic as they're desperate for budget acceptance and will say anything. It wasn't called an éssential structual reforn'  at first,, they were marketing it as an investment for the future

I could never understand before why they were and are so desperate to get this approved, as they kept saying that ALL the $5.00 was going to this so called Medical Research Fund. But now they are saying only the INVESTED RETURNS will be going to this. And the rest of the money will be used to reduce net debt. I imagine that "debt" as the overall debt, not just medicare debt.
