As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

AND
I also thank 2GB broadcaster Alan Jones, who has been a driving force for this change for a long time. Without his assistance, I doubt whether the Government would have been persuaded to support this sensible and long-overdue bill. I also thank the Daily Telegraph, and in particular Andrew Clennell and Alicia Wood. They have also been supportive of the proposal to allow those who financially support the City of Sydney through rates to have a say in how the council is run. It would be remiss of me not to thank also Premier Mike Baird for his support for this bill. The previous Premier did not have the same vision or foresight, and worked behind the scenes to torpedo these sensible changes. I also thank the current Minister for Local Government and member for Bathurst, Paul Toole, for his strong support.

Abbott's Coalition government has now trailed the opposition it replaced for more than half of the time since it was elected. The fall came unnervingly early. According to Fairfax-Nielsen, the two-party preferred vote had slipped to 48 per cent to 52 per cent behind Labor as early as November 21 – less than three months after beating Labor on a 53.5 per cent 46.5 per cent vote.

I don't think we've ever seen that happen before within the first 3 months have we?

Tony Abbott's IS intervention bluster muffles civil unrest in Australia
If there was some way Tony Abbott could squeeze himself into a camouflaged hi-vis outfit, he surely would. A fetching ensemble it would make too. Combat-ready battle dress in bright orange dessert warfare pattern to signal to Australia's mining billionaires that no matter how small the threat from a balanced tax system, he stood ready to go to war with everyone everywhere to distract our attention in their defence.
Abbott is not the first politician to beat the drums of war but there is something striking in the difference between his concern-trolling of the Islamic State (and Russia for that matter) and Barack Obama's reticence, caution and obvious care for the unintended consequences of intemperate action.
Cutting someone's head off on the internet is not a reason to go to war.
It is a heinous crime. Mediaeval barbarism. But the only reason to go to war is to secure the nation or its most vital interests from an existential threat, and those grotesque snuff videos don't come close. They don't even qualify as a challenge to civilisation, merely a squalid offence to civilised norms perpetrated by the sort viciously moronic janissaries the Nazis employed as death camp guards.

Thanks. I must have missed seeing Obama doing that. Prissy Crissy does it all the time.

Have Australians been manipulated over the purchase of new fighter jets?
New fighter jets set to be bought by Australia for some $24 billion have excited manufacturers who hope to be part of their creation, but critics suggest manufacturers, taxpayers and politicians have been manipulated by an elaborate and misleading sales job by the world's largest military corporation.
