Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

GP co-payment could see more changes after Medicare rebate cuts scrapped

Federal Health Minister Sussan Ley suggests there could be further changes to the Government's proposed GP co-payment, a day after dumping a contentious plan to cut Medicare rebates for short doctor visits

hmmm I wonder what plan B is???

The $5 reduction on medicare benefit for GP visit is still on the cards for July '15. Still needs to pass senate though.

Abbott is a slow learner, finally acknowledging his 'dumb' proposals are going to lose him many votes. Putting Dr's offside as well as citizens in the latest 'dumb' proposal is another group of angry voters against his Govt.

Policy confusion? Sure is. Been in Govt over a year and still chopping, changing, backflipping..

The Australian

( right wing bias)

THE Abbott government is softening its stand on unpopular budget savings in a strategic shift to regain lost ground with voters, dumping a controversial increase in the cost of visiting a doctor.

A compromise on $5 billion in higher-education savings is next on the agenda when parliament resumes on February 9, as the government inches towards a revised policy in the hope of securing support from crossbench senators.

Acting to quell anger at his policies, Tony Abbott has signalled a new approach in the fight over economic policy by scrapping the changes to GP rebates just days before they were due to take effect, sacrificing $1.3bn in savings.

Patients will be spared a $20 increase in the cost of visits to the doctor that go for less than 10 minutes in a sudden reversal only five weeks after an earlier backdown on a mandatory $7 GP co-payment, one of the most contentious changes in last year’s budget.

Labor accused the government of policy confusion but Liberals backed the rebuilding the government’s political support and preparing the ground for the next election.

Icy

Oh yes, Australia needs to withdraw from the UN HRC and Refugee conventions as soon as possible

and stop being dictated to by the UN.

As you say, the Crims have more rights than the Victims.

And then you have females who support "killers of women and children" yet the Vic Police Commissioner,

Tony Abbott and many others have tried really hard to make stopping domestic violence a priority yet

they want to release a MULTIPLE OFFENDER back out. His criminal history is sooooo long it isn't funny.

I notice Trigg ommitted the Psychological reports AND his long criminal history of assaults from her report.

You obviously didn't even read the main points/backgound.   :sigh:

From Facebook:

"The Guardian has hopped onto the attack Rupert band wagon and are making a case for Triggs recommending a huge pay out for the trash that murdered his wife.

Get this, 9 (1). Everyone has the right to liberty and security of person. No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest or detention. No one shall be deprived of his liberty except on such grounds and in accordance with such procedure as are established by law.

The ICCPR is actually a schedule to the Australian Human Rights Commission Act.

The HRC believe the victims don’t count and those that carry out the crimes should not be punished because they are still alive.

We need to dump the HRC completely from country, they cost us $27 million a year and are a complete waste of money.

The left don’ t want any independent media they are very much like Germany prior to World War 2.

This push to close down independent media is from the man controlling the whole show, his name is Soros and he only wants what he wants published.

The Guardian is nothing more than a piece of trash but they still put out enough to let everyone know what they represent, everything that is wrong in this world today.

Wife murderers are heroes and the victims don’t count."

Written by someone who obviously didn't read the report, or the statement from Triggs about the report.

Last paragraph should read:

"Labor accused the government of policy confusion but Liberals backed the policy change as a way of assuring voters their concerns were being heard, rebuilding the government’s political support and preparing the ground for the next election."
