Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Lots of talk and plenty of swift action by the voters of Qld. The people do have the final say in the end.

These Wallies just don't get it do they?!......'til the door gets slammed in their face I guess.

I'm still fuming about the ballot boxes that went 'missing' with 1400 ballot papers, here in WA, 2 Federal elections back.......

Reports that same thing happened in several other States and electorates at that same election too.

.......Soooooo suss imo.

Tony Abbott's woes deepen as Fairfax Ipsos poll shows voters heading for the exit

Prime Minister Tony Abbott's grip on the nation's top job has been dealt another blow as voters across the country abandon the Coalition in droves, making a Queensland-style electoral rout in 2016 a real possibility.

The latest Fairfax-Ipsos poll, taken over the final three nights of January, shows the Bill Shorten-led Labor opposition has rocketed ahead to equal its best performance since the months following the deeply unpopular 2014 May budget.

The Coalition would lose nearly 40 seats if the results were replicated at the next election.

Senior ministers continue to rally to the Prime Minister's cause, claiming he will lead the government to the next election.

But insiders admit a process is under way which may now be unstoppable.

the Constitution does not describe the Governor-General’s power, it prescribes it.

When exercising the executive power of the Commonwealth, in accordance with long established constitutional practice, the Governor-General acts on the advice of Ministers who are responsible to the Parliament. That advice is conveyed largely through the Federal Executive Council. The Governor-General presides at meetings of the Executive Council which are attended by at least two members of the Council.

However, there are some powers which the Governor-General may, in certain circumstances, exercise without – or contrary to – ministerial advice. These are known as the reserve powers. While the reserve powers are not codified as such, they are generally agreed to at least include:

  1. The power to appoint a Prime Minister if an election has resulted in a ‘hung parliament’;
  2. The power to dismiss a Prime Minister where he or she has lost the confidence of the Parliament;
  3. The power to dismiss a Prime Minister or Minister when he or she is acting unlawfully; and
  4. The power to refuse to dissolve the House of Representatives despite a request from the Prime Minister.

In addition, the Governor-General has a supervisory role to see that the processes of the Federal Executive Council are conducted lawfully and regularly.

In essence then, the Governor-General’s role is to protect the Constitution and to facilitate the work of the Commonwealth Parliament and Government. .....

If anyone gives opinion that this won't happen because of what happened with Gough Whitlam (PM) and Kerr (Gov-Gen) then I give my further opinion that I cannot for the life of me see Australians 'booing' or 'hissing' at or even heckling His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) Governor-General of the Commonwealth Of Australia  if he was to dismiss Tony Abbott.

Yes 'it' occurred. ....and I have made it a mission in my life that it will never happen again in this country under any Government, under any legislation while I am breathing.

Do you have any idea the stress that 2-3 years had on myself and my 3 children while I was going through 3 courts in a bid to get my pay from an employer who used loopholes, granted by the LNP Govt, under Workchoices, to avoid paying me? No didn't think so.

The Liberal Govt in introducing Workchoices was guilty imo of economic crime.

They are trying to reintroduce a similar plan in the near future.....investigating their options atm.
