As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.![]()
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Back to the 6 flag press conference:
You may be wondering why none of the new Defence chiefs spoke during this morning's press conference.
Defence correspondent David Wroe wanted to ask a question of the appointees but was shut down by the Prime Minister.
Mr Abbott said it was "protocol" that the prime minister and the chief of the ADF talk but the new appointees do not.
Democracy in action.

Julie Bishop bagged Abbott in power talks: Tony Windsor
26 March
During the 17 days of negotiations to form a minority government after the 2010 election, Julie Bishop criticised Tony Abbott to independent MP Tony Windsor and left him believing that if she were leading the talks, the Coalition could have formed government.
“Tony’s not handling this very well, is he? I would like to come and talk with you,” Ms Bishop told Mr Windsor after a frontbench meeting with independent MPs in Mr Abbott’s office.
Ms Bishop’s apparent criticism of Mr Abbott is revealed in Mr Windsor’s new memoir, Windsor’s Way, to be featured in The Weekend Australian on Saturday. It is published by MUP next week.
...But the Foreign Minister told The Australian: “I have no recollection of making such a statement to Tony Windsor. I do recall asking him how the negotiations were fairing and he replied that it was difficult.”
...He argues Mr Abbott botched the crossbench negotiations because of his “weakness of character” and erratic style. He says there was also an “understandable awkwardness”
...Abbott’s preferred practice in politics, whether at university or federally, had been to grind opponents into the dirt. He delighted in playing politics like a rugby match. This is not a criticism, he is wired that way.
She sensed all was not travelling too well for her team,” Mr Windsor writes. “We did meet in my office at 8.30am the next day. I think she knew that Abbott was struggling with the role of negotiator while at the same time dealing with others on his team with different views.
“In hindsight, and given her positive contribution to diplomacy since the 2013 election, the Coalition probably needed someone like Julie Bishop to be at the coal face of negotiations, rather than just Abbott, whose ad hoc and casual approach eventually led to panic.”
But the Foreign Minister told The Australian: “I have no recollection of making such a statement to Tony Windsor. I do recall asking him how the negotiations were fairing and he replied that it was difficult.”
Mr Windsor previously said if Malcolm Turnbull had been opposition leader, that he too could have forged an agreement with independent MPs to form a minority Coalition government.
He argues Mr Abbott botched the crossbench negotiations because of his “weakness of character” and erratic style. He says there was also an “understandable awkwardness” with the Nationals, who did not want to do a deal with rural independents.
“He begged for the job during the latter stages of the process,” Mr Windsor writes. “He would say, ‘I will do anything for this job, I will do anything. I will do anything but sell my **bleep**.’ I felt sorry for him. He was quite lost.
“Abbott’s preferred practice in politics, whether at university or federally, had been to grind opponents into the dirt. He delighted in playing politics like a rugby match. This is not a criticism, he is wired that way.”
Mr Windsor reveals that before the 2010 election he discussed the prospect of a hung parliament with fellow independents Bob Katter and Rob Oakeshott. He also stands by his decision to support a minority Labor government.
“Some people in regional Australia weren’t happy with my final decision but they would have been very unhappy if country members had walked away from an opportunity to influence the national policy debate,” he writes.
The book chronicles Mr Windsor’s career in state and federal politics, his views on policy issues and his break with the Nationals. He also defends the work of the minority parliament and praises Julia Gillard’s “demeanour” and “professional” conduct.

Now that really does look quite impressive though he does appear to be quite dwarfed by them
