Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

I must admit to being unaware of the very important moniker of the ISIS leader,...

Are you the Minister of Defence?

Anyone that reads the current news would know his name.

Kevin Andrews..

He's just ordered 330 Australian troops back to Iraq to fight ISIS... but Defence Minister Kevin Andrews could not name the terrorist group's leader when repeatedly asked in a TV interview

Judge for many seasons to come creates High Court’s power troika

"The Abbott government has entrenched its impact on the High Court by appointing a judge with Coalition links who is so young she will be in office for the next 20 years.

Her elevation means judges appointed by the Coalition will occupy three of the court’s seven positions.

Michelle Gordon, who started her career at the same law firm as Foreign Minister Julie Bishop, will fill the vacancy caused by the retirement on June 5 of her husband, Justice Ken Hayne.

Justice Gordon’s links with Ms Bishop date back to when they worked together at the Perth law firm then known as Robinson Cox, which later became the Perth arm of Clayton Utz.

The judge began her career as Ms Bishop’s articled clerk.

Ms Bishop, who became managing partner of the Perth office, worked with Justice Gordon on commercial litigation before the judge moved to Melbourne and went to the Bar.'

Really? I suppose that means  our troops, including Andrews, will not be sending any Christmas cards to the ISIS leader.

Chris Bowen

....but the shadow Treasurer could not name the tax free threshold when repeatedly asked in  a TV interview. Bowen who wishes to administer the taxation matters of 23,581,000 people.

"Only links to the Coalition " ?

The ALP were much more adept when It came to High Court appointments:

In February 1975, Whitlam appointed Lionel Murphy to a vacancy on the High Court of Australia  when he was still a ALP senator, actually leader of the Senate.
