Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

It seems that Malcolm has come up with a new strategy - introduce a nasty, punative policy then, as the election draws near, remove or modify it, to great fanfare. This is a variation on their old strategy - take vast sums of money from vital areas then, later, put some back, to great fanfare.

Diary of our stinking Govt.

this is a pretty good article on the recent AFP raids

http://www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/federal-election-2016/nbn-leaks-were-of-public-interest-so-wh...

These leaks emerged from the NBN and, according to the police, it was the NBN that reported it as a potential crime.

That in itself bears more scrutiny. This is a publicly-owned company, sure, but it's a company, governed by the Corporation's Act, and involved in commercial enterprise.

these revelations by Clive Palmer, through a new light on the recent AFP raid on Stephen Conroy's office.

MT has always apparently wanted to 'get' Conroy over his senate investigations around the NBN

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-05-26/clive-palmer-turns-liberal-wrecking-ball/7449858

Mr Palmer was once a life member of the Liberal Nationals, but fell out with the party in 2012, started the Palmer United Party, and narrowly won the seat of Fairfax at the 2013 election. He is not recontesting the seat.

He claimed that in 2014 when PUP held the balance of power in the Senate, Malcolm Turnbull, who was then the communications minister, offered him the role of joint chairman of the NBN committee because he wanted to "get" the shadow minister at the time, Stephen Conroy.

"Malcolm Turnbull said to me that he wanted to 'get' Conroy. He told me that he wanted me to remove him from the Senate committee because he wanted to hide, I believe the overrun of the NBN, of $15 billion," Mr Palmer told Lateline.

on twitter I asked skynews if they would be investigating this story, but they didn't respond   Cat LOL
