As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.![]()
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

NDIS criticised after teenager with Down syndrome knocked back for walker funding
another embarrasing screw-up by this govt, their poorly funded NDIS knocks back providing this kid a vital piece of equipment!
thats not how the govt properganda adverts were saying it would be!
oh, after the story hits social media the NDIS suddenly has a change of mind?

You can hardy blame the current government for all the failures or the scheme.
The laws were passed by the Labor Governement and there was never any provision for funding. As usual the Liberal Government has to pick up the pieces of underfunded promises by Labor and cop all the flack when things go wrong.
Just another one of the Labor Party's wonderful initiatives that they could not pay for.
I must say, the method used to decide if the girl needed a walker was a shock.....apparently Dr Google is even recognised by the Federal Government now. And how stupid to go ahead and provide the walker when it had already been paid for by another charity.
With a bit of common sense another child in need could have had a walker too.
A few of the employees of the scheme need lessons in common sense.

this one is totally down to the lib/nats redesign of the NDIS.
labor proposed to lift the medibank levi to pay for the NDIS and it was pretty much agreed by those in the know that was a good plan.
but the lib/nats decided they could do it cheaper, and now we see how.
they cut corners and tell people they are not sick enough to qualify for help.
this case shows the truth loud and clear, the idiot who gets the job of deciding if this child can get her walker uses 'Google' to decide 'oh shes got XYZ she doesnt need a walker.'
pay peanuts get monkeys.....again.

All the Labor schemes you refer to may have been introduced by them, but they were all modified by the LNP Government to made them "affordable, quicker, cheaper and more sustainable" just like the NBN..That included re-defining eligibility, benefits and conditions. It it no good blaming employees of the scheme as they are only following criteria set down the Government
