Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Don't forget paedophiles, david. No,this government has never tried to get political mileage out of demonising asylum seekers.

You have to feel sorry for poor old Scomo - the aftermath  of the Christchurch terror attack has utterly wrecked his fear-and-smear election campaign.

OK, just a wild hypothetical here. Please be patient as I outline "my hypothetical" step by step. Please also read the whole of this post before hitting the reply button.

May 2019 wild hypothetical, by k1ooo:

- scomo calls an election next week for May

- despite the hoo haa over the al Jazeera doco, one nation achieves the balance of power in both houses

- one nation try to wheel and deal with scomo and shorten, feeling very empowered to the point of being aroused

- meanwhile, behind closed doors, and in complete secrecy, power brokers from both Labor and the Coalition are meeting to neuter one nation

- one nation, emboldened by their results, hold a press conference declaring "This is a brand new day for Australian democracy"

- little do they know they are 100% correct, but not for the reasons they think so

- Labor and Coalition power brokers have nutted out an "Agreement" that sees the party with most seats securing the Prime Ministership, while the other secures the Deputy PM position

- this catches one nation by surprise as it renders them irrelevant for the duration of the Labor/Liberals/Nats "coalition"

- Shorten and Scomo hold a joint press conference declaring "This is a brand new day for Australian democracy"

- Shorten and Scomo sign a memorandum of understanding to vote together to thwart any and all legislation one nation puts forward

- Shorten and Scomo sign an agreement to govern in a bi-partison way for at least 18 months before agreeing on the date for the next election

- it only takes 75 members from the Coalition and Labor to have the balance of power, as some Labor and Coalition members can't bring themselves to support any agreement between the two parties

- if the election results are 70 Labor, 63 Coalition, 11 'independents' and 6 one nation then one nation has no power

- one nation start infighting and self-implode

End of story.

david, there have been times when opposite sides have worked together for the good of the nation.  Probably during war times.

a war of ideas and policy

Nothing like a common enemy to bring opposing parties together.

Any, as I had posted, just a wild hypothetical (from someone who has way too much time to ponder these things)
