As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

How do we "dive away our resources" cheaply ???
Most items are priced on the world wide market
We got a higher price per tonne of Iron ore than other countries, well we did in the last few years.
We don't value add to what is essentially a commodity and commodities tend to be price driven by the buyer.

In his eagerness to emulate speed skater Stephen Bradbury, Bill Shorten is trying to win the next election simply by staying on his feet. But he'll need to offer more than that if he wants to win this race, writes Terry Barnes.
The story of Australian speed skater Stephen Bradbury's unlikely gold medal at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics has become a part of our national sporting folklore.
With a diminished Labor caucus and the Rudd and Gillard albatrosses (and their budget deficit legacy) weighing him down, Shorten should be an utter irrelevance. Yet, like Bradbury, the opinion polls say he's skating past his hapless Coalition opponents and can see the line opening up before him.
But before getting too carried away, Labor supporters should have a look at the video of Bradbury's gold medal race. The four skaters in front of him came a cropper not more than a few metres from the finish. While they couldn't regain their footing in time, at least two fallen competitors slid their bodies forward in the last few seconds in desperate attempts to finish ahead of the Australian.
Had Bradbury given his opponents just half a second more, he would have finished with a bronze medal, or less. And while it all looks too easy for Labor at the moment, Shorten doesn't seem to understand it's not over yet.
There's no question that the Government made a hash of its 2014. But its finishing line, a federal election due in late 2016, is the best part of two years hence. Even if the Senate's intractability leads to a double dissolution this year, even the earliest of early elections is many months away

Never mind, the now defunct company Gunns are going to create 2000 jobs.
Serious though, yes the current Gov shouldn't have sucked up to the billionaires and dumped the mining tax.
Mining boom policies dig a hole for economy
If mining creates so few jobs directly, and so little of its profits accrue to Australians, that leaves two key concerns to ensure Australians get suitable recompense for the exploitation of our natural inheritance: make sure miners pay adequate royalties on the minerals we grant them and make sure their profits are adequately taxed.
