As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

One of the biggest hinderances to capitalism is lack of GOOD people to work or lack of people who WANT to work.
When there is 7x the number of people looking for work than there is jobs available, then it really does not matter if some of the unemployed do not want to work. To get good people work ready, you need to provide training. In the past, employers would be happy to train people, and then provide long term employement. Now, nobody wants to train people. They only want people with years of experience. And many places only employ people as casuals, and then they are surprised that people are not as loyal as they used to be 50 years ago.

I wonder if there will be an investigation to find out if Tony Abbott got his Rhodes Scholarship in the same way his daughter received her Scholarship?

....and if someone is working 2.5 hours a week they would not appear on the govt stats as 'unemployed'.
The real unemployment figures should include the 'underemployed' - e.g.all those working less than 'X' hours per week

what is wrong with giving those “too lazy” to look for worka hard time and forcing them to take a job ?
ask the other people who actually want that job. Most positions advertised get hundreds of applicants, many small firms had to outsource the hiring because their small office could not handle dealing with all the applications. I wonder how many put off hiring because of the expense of finding somebody.

That P007 is worth a chuckle, considering the disregard for facts, sorry, and research, sorry, often displayed herein.
I would suggest some independent thought (sorry) and original contributions, but it would appear that for a few that means clutching at self-styled "Independent" on-line red rags whose "citizen journalists" have as much interest in accuracy as often appears here e.g. 6 becomes 6000!

As with Yates, Wootton is also outspoken on climate change. He helped found and continues to chair The Climate Institute, one of the country's leading non-government agencies on the issue.
Wootton said the most ardent climate change sceptics in his industry tend to be "male, over-70 and cranky", and that younger farmers – particularly the agronomy students he hosts from the Marcus Oldham College near Geelong – need much less persuasion that the matter is serious.

I imagine Oxford University is doing an internal review to determine how someone this stupid was given a pass mark.
I think Mummy and Daddy paid for it.

Dead bodies of little kids, drowned because you lot didn't want to stop the boats.
I haven't even started posting pictures of the Asylum Seeker bodies yet to show the hypocrisy.
And yet you don't even acknowledge that their is a system for entry into Australia, you just want to let
everyone in, no system, no methodolgy and then provide never ending money for them even though
they can afford $10,000 for the boat ride.
But you did, in # 5801
