Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-04-20/disability-pensioners-may-be-reassessed-kevin-andrews/5400598

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

I speak only for myself in my initial and subsequent posts and place myself solely in the 'some' category to which I referred

Perhaps you should try that too

Another poster trying to tell others how they should post. If posts are still visible, then they do not contravene any posting rules. First I heard lurkers have to be taken into consideration when making a post (that suggestion is quite ludicrous by the way).

I repeat -  my comment was directly related to posts made here, still visible.. the original post  and the one 'alledgeing' sleazyness. No one apart from mm, has alleged that the post had 'sleazy' connotations. I stand by my comment.

I don't think Abbott's leadership woes are over yet, bella. I certainly don't believe you are a gimme gimme person/family.

The current Govt don't want to lose the next election. Tony Abbott as PM is not performing well.. a new leader could bring them a new focus and they would have time to try and get public(voters) confidence back by the next election.

Then there is the Peta C issue - too much control in the Prime Ministers office - that is causing dissention within the party also.

Totally agree Bella. It's the policies that need an overhaul and I hope some of that happens. There are 2 ways this govt. can go.Will they really listen or not? That remains to be seen

Neither am I a gimme, gimme kind of girl . I'm more of a giver 😀
and I would not call the other posters in this thread gimme gimmes either

I just do not get it; so TA survived.  Yet, his supporters seem to be so insecure & defencive and look for undertones that are not there.  Why?  Is it because they know TA's "victory" was very shallow one.  He is hated by majority of people, and the only reason he is still there is that both Turnbull and JB are not interested in trying to deal with the wreck he left.  I bet my bottom dollar they will challenge just before the next elections, when they will not need to prove themselves, just make some promises.

I agree pretty much with everything Bill Shorten has said in Parliament today. Though he's been pretty quiet throughout this leadership spill, he is spot on.

We will have to watch that space Nova. I doubt that the dissatisfaction is going to magically disappear

debra - some very odd things going on really. This isn't the first time Julie Bishop has done something that the PM's office has refused. I have never seen her smile as much as she has been over the past past week

am* 3 Her eyes have been showing a sort of mysterious twinkling the last couple of days

Bit of botox on Ch 24 just then.  Her mouth was straight, but her eyes were smiling.  She has plans.

Yes, I think so too, I posted earlier about noticing something in her eyes when she was interviewed yesterday.. sort of a 'I know something you don't look'. Whatever it is, she is looking very pleased with herself.

I see the post you objected to as being a follow on to the comments above.. nothing untoward about it at all.

I still think the PM is about to be ousted... can you see into the future and see that he will still be PM right up to the next election?

Oh gosh I obviously misunderstood the below comment, it was the  "not so sure now", and the  "perhaps there is more to it," that made me think there was a degree of uncertainty involved!

"Yes, she's had that twinkle in her eye all week. At first I thought it was because she was enjoying the attention/cat and mouse game with the press, not so sure now perhaps there is more to it. Apparently she and Turnbull are very close friends."

Yes, and only 60% of those behind him are laughing at his jokes.  What a coincidence.

Yes, she's had that twinkle in her eye all week. At first I thought it was because she was enjoying the attention/cat and mouse game with the press, not so sure now, perhaps there is more to it. Apparently she and Turnbull are very close friends.

Oh for goodness sake, there is nothing sleazy about that unless it 's in your own mind. Do not twist my post into meaning other than what it meant which is that she may not mean what she has currently been saying and that she may support Turnbull as he is her friend

oh dear. you didn't understand my response to your "sleazy" comment?"
