google photomatix and you can download the trial version.
I didn't have 3 distinctly different images to merge so I thinkthats why it's not particularly good. I'll have to try it again with my smaller camera. I know how to set the bracketing on it. The nikon has me a bit bamboozled most of the time.
Before and after

Pimpy, you can take a screenshot of your picture before you save it, and you won't get the watermark.
Just google HDR photography, rose.
In all honesty, I think it makes the pictures look like a style of art, taking away some of the mood(and artistic individuality) of certain photos.

the watermark didnt bother me, I was just curious to see what it was like.
I often use pixlr express to add filters to photos and I think it has filters that give a simialr effect, e.g. Hagrid filter

I agree tcm. I love those hdr photos because they are so artistic. They look like they have been painted. It reminds me of the time that old black and white films were first screened in colour.

If it has stirred some of you to try new techniques, I feel my purpose in life has been met.........
Here's a before-and-after.......
It's true that one can turn a perfectly fine image into a ghastly, over-saturated parody of the original. This is known as "grunge" HDR and logging onto sites such as "HDR Creme" will provide plenty of examples.

Oh, and why is everyone calling me goofyfoot?
Bandcamp, or alternatively Jake, will suffice.........
This is my very first HDR......I took the 3 images on my front porch, with a piece of mat board as a back ground. I have since sold about 20 copies of this shot........
Later this summer (winter to you folks) I will attempt to interest you in another type of photography........

I am enjoying the process, band. I should have asked you more questions several years ago.
Memes was the one who got me interested in taking pictures. You and Jds make me feel like the worst photographer that ever lived. LOL. The fact that my rebel has actually been taken out of the box is a step in the right direction. I will always take my little click, click, click camera with me (too) though.
There are some wonderful pictures on this board. I check out the photo threads every day.

I did google HDR last night and thought nup, too confusing but went back and downloaded that program Pimpy mentioned. I didn't have 3 photo's to play with so just fiddled with single ones. I like that it can enhance a crook photo and I was impressed with a couple of them but some of the enhancements I didn't like, personal tastes comes into that I guess.
I think the digital world is a wonderful thing but increasingly I am becoming a skeptic as to whether something is a spur of the moment click and "wallah" a great photo or a photo that has many layers or stitched together or whatever.
My brother is right into photography, takes heaps of photo's then comes home and sits down to adjust and fiddle them if they aren't quite what he was hoping for, I just don't have the time for that.

The HDR one's are a bit 'trippy' for me

The HDR pictures remind me of the Dick Tracey movie with that almost cartoony effect. I haven't decided if I like it or not. I do like that example up there, with the greenery and bridge.
Colic, what's the purpose of the plastic bottles on the lawnmowers? Are they makeshift fuel containers
