Displacing Indigenous Australians

I'm extremely confused, are they or aren't they?

and round-and-round we go. We 'shoved them in a white fella box' - if the Gov doesn't provide housing  - 'it's disgusting, we should provide them a house' - either they want to live traditional lives or they don't.

The ones sitting in the dirt up there under a tree in WA do want to live traditional lives, isn't that the whole point of this thread? But they will get forced off their patch of dirt, stuck in a house they don't know how to look after, assimilate in to a township where they have access to grog, high carb foods and all that other goodstuff that shortens their life expectancy, are expected to get a job (according to abbott) but I ask you, who is going to employ them? I could go on and on and debate but I'll only end up angry so I won't say any more.

If they DO want to live traditional lives, I can accept that and I don't think anyone would argue with their right CHOOSE THAT LIFE.

They are NOT being forced off their 'patch of dirt', they are being told, by all means, live where you want, but the Government is not going to keep paying them for their - YES, LIFESTYLE CHOICE.

Definition: I don't want to assimilate into white fella society.I don't want one of your white fella boxes. I choose to live a traditional life on my ancestoral lands = LIFESTLE CHOICE - no matter how you want to interprete it otherwise. I chose to live on the Sunshine Coast - that is MY LIFESTYLE CHOICE.

Anyway, I won't say any more otherwise I might get angry too.

Just stop already.

That definition you provided is fictional and invalid.  No, they're not being told that they can stay.  The lands are wanted for mining and industry.

You people have had thousands of years to to adapt to living in and maintaining homes, working for a wage etc. and you expect the aboriginals to adapt and assimilate overnight.

I believe the people should be allowed to stay in their remote communities and whatever the cost is of looking after them, well they're probably owed that much in rent anyway

I believe that people should be allowed to stay in their remote communities if that's what they want.

BUT ...  how many thousands of years is the Government supposed to pay that rent until they adapt?

How many hundreds of generations of people have to apologise for England deciding to send settlers / convicts to Australia?

Do you read what you write before posting?

DO you call yourself Christian?

How are the government paying their rent for them to live on their own lands?   Here's the thing, it's not been hundreds of generations nor has it been thousands of years, since the English arrived with their convicts and rejects.

DO YOU read  what I write? The statements above were in direct response to those of ' scarlet' - using his/her terminology. Can you not see that?

The definition is exactly true.

BUT, if that is the case that they are being moved on, then it is a very different matter, but the same Financial constraints apply to having 274 remote sites requiring support.

Oh yes, I read what you write. Not everything you write on this forum but enough.

From what I see you argue about thousands of year old guff in the bible and would deprive the aboriginal people of their culture and beliefs which are all tied up with the spiritual connection with their lands

Obviously YOU DON'T READ WHAT I WRITE - show me where I have tried to 'deprive the aboriginal people of their culture and beliefs' - I HAVE DONE NO SUCH THING.

Go back and read this thread, or any other about indigenous people. There is no other way to describe what you have been saying about the remote communities.

OK, I have reread all of my posts on this thread - I must have missed one though - the one where I say anything remotely like what you have accused me of. Would you be so kind as to point it out for me.

darn it, I wasn't going to reply on this thread anymore.

I have just hit the reply button, but I am not replying to anyone in particular.

Just a thought.

Q. What is the oldest known race of people ?   Africans/australian aboriginals

Q. Are these people made in the image of God by God?   So God's people are black skinned

Q. Did these people abuse the land or did they nurture it?

Maybe the Aboriginals way of life is what God intended for his planet and his people.  Maybe the black people who saw white men and called them white devils really weren't that far off the mark. Maybe white men were made by the Devil, goodness knows they are doing a great job of defiling the planet.
