Djokovic disqualified from US Open

Great news!

A crowd being present does not change the rules.

I'm a bit conflicted about the outcome of this action. It is not

a one off action of hitting the ball back toward the ball person. The

players all hit the ball back to the ball boy/girl. The angle I looked

at didn't appear to be a deliberate action of lining up the linesperson.

Had he had words with that particular linesperson?

Sounds to me like he was being a drama Llama, throwing a tantrum, and the ball he threw with some force hit an innocent person.

I don't follow tennis, but to me, that's not tennis. That's just bad manners.

He deserves his supension.

I wonder if the same would apply if it was to happen from a

serve which the receiver missed returning that collected

the linesperson?

I just looked at it from a different angle and i'm leaning more

toward the disqualification was warranted. He would have been

aware of the position of the linesperson compared to where the

ball boy/girl would have been standing. I hope it's opened the gate

for Alex De Minaur to progress further.

Yeah well. Not being a follower of tennis, I  can't really comment on the angles and the dangles.

Fact is, he threw a tantrum and injured an innocent  person.

That's just not tennis IMO!

That's just playing up to the cameras!

The video shows he hit the ball in the direction of the linesperson, with force and through the air, not along the ground. It hit her in the throat. It didn't look like he intentionally hit her, but it did look like he was reckless and inconsiderate of who it might or might not hit. IMO he deserved to be disqualified and I hope it scares other arrogant ill tempered players who do the same thing.

I don't think so ...

"In accordance with the Grand Slam rulebook, following his actions of intentionally hitting a ball dangerously or recklessly within the court or hitting a ball with negligent disregard of the consequences, the US Open tournament referee defaulted Novak Djokovic from the 2020 US Open," the statement read.

i think the disqualification should be across the board

throwing a racket should get you kicked out too

once it leaves the hand it could go anywhere
