I have finally had my kitchen renovated, and just had a lovely new glass cooktop put in.
It came with a sample pack of ceramic cook top cleaner and also one of a "protector".
Do you really need to use that stuff and does it prolong the life / looks?
Opinions please!

I didn't have any white stains on my ceramic cook top.. probably because I cleaned it regularly, therefore it isn't something that happens to EVERY ceramic cooktop.
From the post above: Your cooktop will develop white marks very soon
From the link above:
But you might see white stains on your ceramic stove top if you don't clean it frequently enough

Darn! Mine is a Westinghouse as well
Looks like I wil have to use the cleaner and protector stuff then - I would be wiping it down every day regardless, but if it will keep it looking nice.....
Thanks everyone for your replies

Enjoy your new cook top. I found the ceramic one easy to clean and keep looking nice. I would buy one again.

Mr Westinghouse said it is something to do with the high temperature, not spills. I clean mine weekly, and it is perfect.

I hate my ceramic cooktop. It's a westinghouse. It was in the house when I moved, and already scratched. I've tried cleaning it with the ceramic cleaner but it is still all scratched and rough where stuff has boiled over in the past.
There are no white marks, never has been and I rarely clean it with the special cleaner.
I don't like it because it burns the bottom of my pans. I don't have the knobs turned on more than half and it still burns stuff (nothing to do with my cooking skills ) We are putting a gas stove in.

I had a Westinghouse ceramic top for years never used protector or special cleaner but wiped it down with a soapy sponge, used a scrapper then gumption of tough stains and finally windex. Never had a scratch on it. Do the same with this one although now and again use the protector because I got it free. You don't need it just keep it clean 🙂
