Do you think Birth Mothers is an insensitive comment?

Apparently Tony Abbott has withdrawn the comment and apologised.

Well....I imagine the term "adoptive parent" is just as offensive to many "adoptive parents".

But, you know, it's a complex issue, and seeing as no one has yet made widely available the politically correct terms (not that I've read or heard anyway), the majority of us are going to cause offense to some one at some time who is connected to this topic.

Life really.

Does anyone have a link to the footage showing the hecklers?

Not very tactful of him given it was stated in the senate report that it was offensive.

Was it?

First I've heard that, although I haven't read the senate report, I've only seen and read the abc and sbs news coverage.

In his position I agree, he should have read the report and been aware of it if it has been identified as a significant issue.

It was seen that way by some of those concerned.

I don't consider those people who it concerned and spoke up to be hecklers

A number of women in the audience began yelling at Mr Abbott when he used the words "birth parents".

He said: "We honour the birth parents, including fathers, who have always loved their children."
