Is this making it too easy for them?

No, at least not financially. If we cointinue to make it too hard for our businesses etc to acheive the profits that they desire and/or require to remain operational, we will continue to see more of them closing down or moving offshore.
We do have a committment to reduce emissions by 5%, so relevant parties need to be held accountable, but it needs to be some kind of a balance so that they will continue to trade.
If our businesses don't remain here and trade, we lose valuable export dollars, employment opportunities, sustainability etc etc.
Of the top 25 commodities that we export, only maybe 5 or 6 of them relate to services, the other 4/5 are all production heavy.
Oujr top 3 exports (all in mining) produced about $125 Billion dollars of the $316 Billion earned.
If we lose our mines and factories, what do we export next?
Agriculture (wheat, cotton, wool and meat etc) yields us only $20 Billion for 5 of the top 25 spots, whilst our knowledge economy (offices, computer, educations, servioces etc), taking up another 5 spots brings in about $30 Billion, so not even 1/10 of the income of our industrial economy.
We cannot afford to lose our Industrial economy until the other sectors have been strengthened in order to at least replace them if not expand on them. (as the population increases, so too must our income).
Apart from that, our entire societal structure (including our prisons) is not punative. The systems operate in such a way so as to encourage reformation, rehabilitation and desirable behaviour, why would this sector be treated any differently?

this government is off its gourd. no need to punish them, just make them pay. once this government is gone its back to doing the sensible thing. abbott can only delay the inevitable for his term, not for good.

If I took $50 off you because you didn't do something, you wouldn't consider that to be a punishment?
If i gave you $50 because you behaved in a desirable way, would you consider that to be a punishment or a reward? (or just a bribe? LOL)
May I ask you LL, what you thought about my post pertaining to making it feasible for companies to be able to or wanting to remain in Australia? Should we make it so that operating their businesses here becomes either unprofitable or undesdirable?
