I see what I see and I hear what I hear on the TV.....but how serious is this all really?

Is it deliberately being peddaled to us that it is a bad state of affairs?

.....or is this really, really serious stuff......comments please.

Sadly, I think it is all too likely to end in civil war. It's easy to say that it's all being orchestrated by Russia - and it probably is - but the problems in Ukraine are complex and historical; and illustrate the folly of trying to impose artificial borders on a country without considering the cultural and/or ethnic affiliations of those living in the border regions.

Do not believe all you see on the TV news or read in the paper.

The US and EU want to extend their influence in the region, as they have in the middle east and many other places of conflict.

Yes the situation is serious especially for people in the region and as always the US and the EU are not helping to calm the conflict but instead are adding fuel to an already volatile situation to further their agenda.

Pushing these sanctions won't be helping anyone involved in this conflict .....not at all 'helpful' nor is it adopting a peaceful, progressive approach IMO

In my opinion the economic sanctions are designed to provoke retaliation by Russia in turning off the gas supply to further escalate the conflict. I read one article that stated that a fast food chain in New York banned Putin from setting foot in their premises.

What a tough sanction huh ? It just goes to show just how inflated the US ego and sense of self importance the Yanks have.

The stupidity never fails to amaze me.
