Can you twist the pups over each other to close it up? I think it's a hair thing too. The teeth would hold it in.

Yes, it is a pony tail holder....it is supposed to be interlocked to hold the pony tail.
You may find that it is too brittle to work properly now....my kids had them back in the 70s I think and their one failing was getting brittle and snapping when you tried to interlock them.

haha, wow. they'd stick ouit off the head like little wings.
They will cross over. They're not brittle nor really soft, just plastic with jiggley eyes.
There's cats, bears and birds. Some flowers too, but no eyes in the flowers.
