Lets hope all the other Au states do the same thing asap

QLD banned single use plastic bags a year ago.

The transition was easy (for me) and it is much better when doing the weekly shopping. It is neater and more convenient, while benefiting the environment and marine life.

Great to hear that Qld has already made this move as has SA, not sure re the other states ...... Cant say it would bother me either, we already take our own re usable bags or use the boxes provided.

I noticed the Liberal Vic opposition leader is being a twerp re the motion but that's not unusual

When it came in NSW, there were so many people literally breaking down (or,rather having tantrums) over not getting 'their plastic bags'
It was in the news for at least 18 months prior, in the press, posters up in stores and yet the amount of people I personally heard screaming "they did'nt know" "nobody said" etc etc
One person in my local Woolies literally pushed their shopping trolley into the end of the checkout area, pointed at the sales person and screamed as loud as they could (not that I'll use caps) you took away my plastic bags !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and threw themselves on the floor
Of course there was the 'poor dear, must be not quite right' (no idea if there were or not) but given I saw a couple of dozen different people having similar dummy spits
Must be me that is 'odd' I have been using cloth bags or one kind or another since 1995

We do the bulk of grocery shopping at Aldi, so not being given plastic bags is nothing to new to us ..... We also shop in The Mount so are used to not being given a plastic bag with any purchase. Cant say I have ever felt the need to have a meltdown over it
I once heard someone say they wouldnt shop at Aldi, cause you had to pay for the trolley ...... Didnt like to ask them if they understood that they would get their $1 back when they returned it to the trolley bay
Are plastic bags banned everywhere in NSW or only the supermarkets?

while i personally dont think the bag ban has done anything about reducing plastic waste, i find the reusable bags ok.
when i'm out and about i still see plenty of rubbish plastic blowing around the country side, getting stuck in fences.
mostly from house building sites where tradies just throw it on the ground and the next gust of wind takes it away.
even if they plonk it in the skips it still gets blown out and off into the enviroment.
its often plastic bags insulation comes in, big pink plastic bags
