Back in the day, that's going back some thirty odd years, it was a much smaller road, and the bridges scattered along it were pretty narrow, too...
I'd make the run from Grafton/Maclean up to Brisbane in the early hours of the morning, to escape the worst of the traffic, but even then, that led to a few hair raising incidents - say I was heading North and a truck was heading South, and because of the narrow bridge, the truckie'd straddle the centre line as he crossed the bridge....
The bridges, back then, were raised higher than the road, so it was like cresting a small hill...
Often enough the first and last thing you saw, without any warning, was a set of headlights... Big headlights... coming straight at you...
I swear my guardian angel worked overtime, sometimes... ha ha...
I finally fitted a CB radio to the bike so I could keep an ear out for truckies announcing that they were about to cross whichever bridge, North or Southbound...
That area had a poor reputation when it came to crashes.
I'm sure that when the new highway went in it made things safer, better, but it's still a shame to see that people still die there, needlessly...
🙂
Maybe murder / suicide ?

Roge, it's a question of reasonable doubt.
Was there the intent to commit murder, or indeed, suicide?
Certainly, a heated exchange took a very wrong turn, but I'm going to call Death by Misadventure, on this one.
It was an unfortunate and tragic accident.

People do not generally jump out in front of moving trucks while all parties are on or near a highway , and you are who ? to definately call this " death by misadventure " ?
Accident - both not aware of the truck
Accidently on purpose - disengaged from antagonist and run across the path of the truck hoping the other followed and gets collected but both did
Murder with misadventure - one pushed the other in the path of the truck , only to be dragged under
Murder suicide - one threw both under the truck
Then there is the part of the truck driver
Wake up - 1 in 6 people are considerd to be clinical mentally ill , if you only factor all parties as being mentally sound then I would understand a tendency to consider all actions of an incident regretful misadvanture

Two men died.
Out of respect for the dead, and for those who must live with the consequences of this terrible accident, I have kept my opinion short, and to the point - theirs was death by misadventure.
Of course, that's solely my opinion.
It was an accident.
Let it rest at that.

yes, just another accident, a very avoidable accident had one of these 2 idiots decided 'let it go'
a lesson for any hot heads behind the wheel
shake ya fist, blow ya horn or give the 1 finger salute
but STAY IN YA CAR and go on ya way!
and no one gets hurt
