All Sydney is agog today with Ellen's visit:
ELLEN DeGeneres and her crew have checked into her penthouse suite in Sydney's prestigious Intercontinental Hotel.
The US TV talk show host earlier arrived at Sydney Airport to the delight of hundreds of screaming Aussie fans.
The US talkshow queen stopped to groove along with the "Ellen choir" as she walked into the international arrivals lounge with wife, Portia.
Ellen stopped and chatted to fans before being swept into waiting black vans swamped by her fans.
Even embattled Prime Minister Julia Gillard got in on the act.
Ms Gillard tweeted: "Welcome to Australia @TheEllenShow. Hope you get to see as much as possible of our beautiful country. JG"

There's a fair bit going on in Sydney this weekend.
The new Greenpeace ship "Rainbow Warrior" is in Sydney on Sunday, on her "Save the Barrier Reef" tour. As a Greenpeace supporter I would have loved to go on board for a look, but we will be travelling out of Sydney this Sunday. Bad planning 😞
I believe Sir Bob Geldof is also gracing us with his presence, I heard him interviewed on the radio this morning.

Well the last I heard was that she was not coming to Australia. I only read that
yesterday. She must have changed her mind quickly.
I would have like to visit the Rainbow Warrior too Icy.
Melbourne did get a visit though by the QE2.

Hi Bright 🙂
Ellen had a bad flu apparently which made her postpone her original tour dates.
Apparently it prevented her from getting down and kissing the ground. So I read, lol.
The minute she looked out the window of her hotel in Sydney she said "what a beautiful view".
She's obviously done her homework and knows what we aussies like to hear :^O
I hope reporters no longer ask celebrities "how do you like Australia" the minute they get off the plane.
I believe the Rainbow Warrior was in Melbourne as well.
By the way, I tried to pet the ginger cat next door this morning but it flicked it's tail and ran away from me.

Did she get the idea from Oprah?

I guess so.
I don't mind Ellen, I've never watched her show, but from what I've seen and heard and heard she's quite funny.
There doesn't seem to be as much brouhaha about her visit as there was about Oprah's. Our Premier Barry O'Farrel didn't come to welcme her as did our then Premier Christina Kennealy when she welcomed Oprah.
It was nice of our PM to welcome Ellen, though.

I saw the reactions to Ellen. 😮 People are crazy.

If you've never watched her show why bother with the thread?

Ellen's wife is an Aussie so I think this is more of a personal visit with a bit of promo, whereas Oprah was here for tourism Australia.

If you've never kissed her wife why bother with that post?
