Now that we are empty nesters, and have been for over a year, I thought that it was time that I transformed the vacant rooms. One room will become my studio while the other room will become the guest room. I was wondering what other empty nesters have done with their kids' old rooms.

Hubby and me made one into my scrapbooking room, we have our computors in there as well.....the room is large.
The other room is used as a guest room or when the grandkids stay over they sleep in there.

One brm has resident youngest daughter still living in it (she is away oseas for 8mths at present though)
The other brm is a spare bedroom for when other daughter comes to stay.
I think in the future both rooms will remain as bedrooms for when they want to come and stay (not likely that they will live and/or work) near here.
A space/table in one of them for sewing/craft would be good.

My little nephews want to stay overnight with us which is an incentive to get that room sorted out. My kids have left stuff behind - its amazing how much "stuff" girls need so a working bee will have to be scheduled to sort that out. . The other room is huge with perfect natural light. I'm looking forward to getting my oils out again plus I want to dabble in mosaics.
We already have a study that needs still has unpacked boxes from when mr Bluecat moved in a couple of years ago. So, there is plenty to keep me busy for a while.
Deb, my kids have left home and returned and left again. They were in their mid twenties before thsy moved out permanently. Well, permanently for now....lol.

Bedroom retained as such, with new bed and bedding for guests. Also a corner table for my sewing maching, and a bookcase for book overflow. The grandkids toys also get shoved in there out of the way. Multi purpose room.

There are never enough bookcases. I'd love to have a library with shelves from floor to ceiling.

Each of my three children have returned home for various reasons. The youngest boy came home twice. lol. All gone now though. It took ages to get used to just the two of us. I still cook too much food, can't quite get the hang of cooking for two.

I once had a dream of one room just for books. Not practical, but now we have bookcases in three rooms.

We seem to have a revolving door here so they are kept as bedrooms. Even when the two older ones were away we still had their 'stuff' in them. Eventually, I'd like to have a dedicated guest room, with no 'stuff' in it!
