The most embarrassing sin produces the worst in left leaning socialist politics and the mentality of entitlement.
The Age of Envy
The most embarrassing sin produces the worst in politics.
Of the seven deadly sins, envy, may not be the wickedest, but it is the most embarrassing.
To be possessed by envy is to admit a humiliating personal inadequacy:
We do not envy others those attainments, that we think we too might achieve, but those we despair of ever possessing.
Wrath, greed, pride, lust — all assume a certain self-possession. Sloth and gluttony are practically standard issue in times of plenty such as these.
Wrath and pride are the sins of great (but not good) people. (See Rudd)
Envy is the affliction of the insignificant. It is the small persons sin.
I feel privileged that I have gone through my life not having the burden of these hateful thoughts and feelings, in fact I feel just the opposite, I feel privileged to meet successful, kind and ambitious people, they enrich us and our lives with their philanthropy.
Some of the greatest people I have ever met have been wealthy, but you would never know it, and their generosity is heartwarming.
Their selfless work and thinking of ways to help the less fortunate is a unique attribute of the very wealty.
One only has to think of Bill Gates and Twiggy Forest, both work tirelessly to better the humanities.

A historical fact that Tim left Julia (ex Labor PM) and moved to the country to live in a caravan. Which official document is that recorded in?
To be cynical about billionaires doesn't mean you are envious of them. People behave badly and unethically whether they have $1 to their name or several million.. (example, Nathan Tinkler, owes millions, cheated on his wife, of interest to ICAC)
I know lots of people that are very wealthy. I wouldn't swap my life with them...not for the $$ that's for sure.

And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites. So He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings ] but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.”

What is there to envy?
Boganaire.. The Rise and Fall of Nathan Tinkler
Hunter Valley mine electrician Nathan Tinkler borrowed big in 2005, made a fortune from several speculative coal plays, and by 2011 was a self-made billionaire. He had gambled and won, but his volatility and reluctance to pay his debts were making him enemies. He lived the high life as only a young man would, buying luxury homes, private jets, sports cars and football teams, and splurging massively to build a horseracing empire.
But Tinkler's dreams had extended beyond even his resources, and his business model worked only in a rising market. When coal prices slumped in 2012, Tinkler had no cash flow to service his massive borrowings and no allies to help him recover.
Within months he was trying desperately to stave off his creditors, large and small, and fighting to save his businesses and his fortune.

I sure as hell would not want to be a bitter old bag like Gina, regardless of the amount of dosh she has stashed away where the ATO can't get their hands on it. There is a reason her own kids are at war with her and it's not because she is such a caring wonderful person.
This thread is more about attacking other posters than discussing envy anyway. Most posters abide by the community values and don't use every post to deride others while a couple get away with calling others names and ranting about their personalities every day.

the whole thread about billionaires is not to attack billionaires as individuals but to poke fun at such a system that sees millions starve while a few live like kings/queens, clumsy maybe - but using political satire to have a little fun rather than get involved in the constant bagging of Australians (unemployed, low income earners, parents, etc etc) everyday, well...sue me.

You know the old saying, karli: give a man enough rope ..... etc.
I think most posters here are intelligent enough to draw their own inferences about the personalities of other posters from the comments they post.

Please stay on topic which is envy, not name calling “ ”bitter old bag” adds nothing to the debate.

Who is envious of billionaires? That is the question. You can't just make up you think other people are envious of billionaires.
