This has to be a mental disease right?????
Why do people line up overnight just to get one of the first phones??? What does it actually achieve?

I don't understand flying from Perth to Hong Kong to get one, but I would understand flying from Hong Kong to Perth to get one.

My older son knows a couple of guys who lined up the night before it was released.
He went to visit them at the (outdoor) mall. LMAO. There is a public bathroom at the mall that they can use.
My son wouldn't bother to wait in line, especially since his best buddy works for apple. He can get the new iphone anytime he wants one.
In answer to your question Bob.
1. iphoneaholics
2. Profit. The last time one of the same guys(above) bought an iphone(he paid about $700), he sold it for $1,600 the next day on ebay.
On as aside, a few months after the iphone 5 came out last year, Best Buy had a promotion for the iphone 5. My husband gave them his old iphone, and they gave him a brand new iphone for a penny. We did have to renew the contract for 2 years. We would have stayed with the plan anyway.

Like I said, I was only kidding. And I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't try and use me to take pot shots at others.
Besides, my measure of what makes a goods person isn't measured by their IQ.

Siggy, the picture I showed was for a completed listing on the very first hour they were released.
I know the prices will go down as time goes by.
So, here is my update about a real person who did this. My son's friend brought 4 people with him to sit in line. They went inside and asked for 5 iphone 6 plus. When Mr. X tried to use his CC to buy all 5 phones, apple said no. So, he went outside and asked the people in line if they would give him cash to buy the 6 plus's from him. He made $2,800 in profit for his efforts.
$2,800 for spending the night at the mall isn't bad. We live in California and it was warm last night.

Not ethical to profit in that way though.
If that guy didn't buy 5 phones (which he didn't want for personal use), then that would be 4 more available for the people in the queue.
