FOUR YEARS IS A JOKE, SAYS KELLY MUM

TOTALLY DISGUSTING this sentance....., 4 years for killing a young man who did NOTHING.

Kieran Loveridge went out to hurt people that night, he has committed a series of assults already that night befor he king hit Thomas Kelly and killed him.

Kieran Loveridge  went looking for trouble that night and he gets 4 years and homas Kelly  is DEAD....

THE mother of Thomas Kelly has broken down outside court, telling of her 'horror' at the four-year jail term handed Kieran Loveridge.

Loveridge will serve the minimum term for the king-hit manslaughter of Thomas Kelly, a sentence met withsobs by his family.

Outside the court an emotional Kathy Kelly, Thomas's mother, said she was "horrified" by the outcome.

"[The sentence is] a joke, an absolute joke. And we're horrified," she said.

"This was our son, a boy that was young, honest and starting his life and he's gone. The next person could be your son."

Ray Hadley slams 'weak-kneed' justice system for king-hit killer Kieran Loveridge's four-year jail term

MORNING radio host Ray Hadley has joined a growing chorus of outrage at the four-year jail term handed to king-hit killer Kieran Loveridge.

"I've had an absolute gutful, as has everyone in the state of NSW," 2GB host Hadley said after receiving news of the sentence from the station's court reporter today.

"Would it take Greg Smith's son to be killed? Barry O'Farrell's son to be killed before someone does something about it? What's it going to take men? You came to power to make change.

"This fellow that night picked up victims. Harmless people walking about the street, and the Supreme Court tells us it wasn't his intention to kill someone.

"Well what was he doing punching … innocent people?

"We've got a weak-kneed Attorney General and Attorney General's department in NSW.

"Is Barry O'Farrell going to condemn judges … or is he going to make changes to the system?"

HEARTBREAK FOR Kelly family

THOMAS Kelly's life support was turned off by his shattered parents Ralph and Kathy Kelly two days after he was king-hit.

The court heard that earlier that night, as he consumed a carton of Smirnoff pre-mixed drinks with friends, Loveridge warned: "I swear I'm going to bash someone."

He also committed a series of other assaults on other young men that night, but none suffered injuries as devastating as those of Thomas.

The court heard that the following day, as he watched news reports about Thomas Kelly, Loveridge commented "Was that one of my fights? It fits my description, but wouldn't they have seen my tattoos? Am I caucasian?" Loveridge later told another friend: "I just don't remember (if that was me),

I agree with Mr & Mrs Kelly.

I hope they get somewhere with this: Ms Kelly then called upon lawmakers to toughen their stance on one-punch legislation.

Loveridge was originally charged with murder but the prosecution accepted the lesser plea of manslaughter.

Loveridge was also sentenced for four assaults he committed on the same night that he punched Mr Kelly.

Together with the manslaughter charge, he will spend seven years and two months behind bars with a non-parole period of five years and two months

It is a joke, especially when he was on probation for another assault when he punched Thomas.

Unbelievable. What message is this sending to thugs? Go out and kill someone, you'll be out in a few years? 😞 An inquiry has apparently been ordered into this.

I'd have to agree with Kelly's mum. sometimes it is really hard to understand why the law works as it does. (OK 90% of the time)

4 years doesn't seem even close to enough of a penalty for taking somebody's life.

I can totally relate to Mrs Kelly. I'd be ropable if somebody else's waste of space son killed my son for kicks and got to live his waste of space life while my son's bright future was extinguished and the waste of space son's mother got to keep her son and probably doesn't even care all that much.

Him and his deadbeat cousin have been in foster care most of their lives, so yep you are correct there.  And his cousin gets 30 years for using a knife.  Whats the difference between a fist and a knife, the result was the same.  

Four years?  Disgraceful.  What are we not hearing about this?
