I think social media is the best way to go... there is plenty of support out there. I've already seen some on twitter and it's a good way to put the pressure on the polticians or to at least expose what's really going on.
i wish you all luck with your campaign, as you already know I think it is just so wrong. Have they set up a petitiion anywhere yet??

Go for it! The multinationals have a lot to answer for, and it sickens me to see governments bending over backwards to accomodate them.
Let's hope they have more success than we Victorians did when it was announced that channel deepening was to occur at Port Philip Bay heads. The Labor Government assured the general population that their exhaustive studies found absolutely no ill effects from dredging the channel and underwater blasting of a natural rock formation within the Rip.
Even though extensive studies were undertaken by private consortiums, showing alarming results, the government in their infinite lack of wisdom, (and I assume, graft payments from the shipping magnates), went ahead with the exercise.
Below is a picture of Portsea Pier - a well-known and desired family swimming spot for generations. I've also fished this area for over 50 years - and had never seen waves of this magnitude, until after the dredging, which have since destroyed the beach, and cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to prevent reoccurences.
The current has scoured all sealife from the area, divers no longer frequent the area, as the tidal stream is too dangerous, and fishing is now a fruitless exercise.
And the governement has the hide to state that 'it's just a cyclic thing'...despite those living there for many years, having never experienced it before! Must be a bl@@dy long cycle!
And now, the Qld government is trying to approve an international seaport for cruiseliners on the Gold Coast, effectively removing puublic access to The Spit, and build a casino on Wavebreak Island - both sites which former governments declared 'public domain for perpetuity!'
It really doesn't matter what party's in power - they are all self-serving mongrels!

@debra9275 wrote:they all sell to be in such a big hurry to sell off or lease all our land. What's happened to the national Party?? is there even such a thing any more? They used to support farmers, now they seem to just tow the party line
Nationals, Libs, Labor, Greens...I wouldn't give you two bob for the lot!
I don't care what party's in power - they all pay lip service to looking after the country, all the whilst ensuring their post-government positions and retirement's well-catered for.
It's about time we started paying pollies on a performance basis - the same as private enterprise.
Sigh...I DO like to daydream!

No, I don't think so. Tony W has been very supportive of the antimine action group.
There was a petition getting around to protest against that Gold Coast development.
As far as I know there isn't a petition for the Shenhua Watermark mine.
