Verdict

Joe Hockey’s claim that of all the people earning $100,000 a year under the age of 50, 2% are women is false. The correct figure is around 24%.

just looking at that link to ATO - taxation statistics, can someone explain to me how  Joe Hockey came to that conclusion?

He didn't he fudged things. The majority of people that vote LNP don't really care so he doesn't have to prove anything. That is evident by the polls.
