Labor thought Murdoch editors must be part of a conspiracy to conclude Labor was unfit to lead. Are the editors of Fairfax’s Sunday Sun-Herald and Sunday Age part of that conspiracy, too - or are the facts of Labor failure too obvious even for them?
Melbourne and Sydney’s Sunday newspapers are united in their calls for voters to throw Kevin Rudd’s Labor government out of office for the Coalition.
Melbourne’s Fairfax-owned The Sunday Age did so reluctantly.... “Therefore, it is with little enthusiasm that we say the Coalition deserves to win.’’
Melbourne’s News Corporation Australia-owned Sunday Herald Sun was less equivocal.
‘’Australia cannot afford to keep the most dysfunctional and inept government in its history,’’ the paper editorialised…
In Sydney, the Fairfax-owned The Sun-Herald’s editorial ... described federal Labor as ‘’negative, incoherent, incohesive and – the worst of all – uninspiring’’…
And who could miss the News Corp-owned Sunday Telegraph?… It pointed out, like the Sunday Herald Sun did, that it had backed Labor in the 2007 election.
But no more.
When Murdoch papers foolishly backed Kevin Rudd in 2007, that wasn’t a conspiracy and Labor didn’t complain.
When Murdoch papers wisely dump Kevin Rudd in 2013, that is a conspiracy and Labor complains.
When even Fairfax papers dump Kevin Rudd in 2013, that is ... what?

Now all we need is the far left leaning ABC to actually do some unbiased reporting....... Hopefully when Abbott wins he will gut the ABC and take it back to the middle of the road and fair both side reporting instead of the far far far left that it is now....

All labor's woes & unfortunate infighting, back stabbing, policy failures, backflips, revenge & chaos, is sheeted home to Labor & Labor alone, newspapers are not in government, have no say over policy decisions or anything else.
To say otherwise is ludicrous but it suits the labbies to blame anybody, anything, for the dire position it finds itself in.
The vast majority of Australians don't all read newspapers, they all don't watch the news or the ABC. This line being run by the left is transparent & pitiful * is seen through ny the voters. The avalanche of distaste & sheer frustration with Labor is all their own doing & nobody else's
We have a freedom of the press which is a cornerstone of our democracy, we can never sit back & watch a government attack our freedoms, the Labor party launched an assault on it that's never before been done in a democratic country. They failed but don't ever think if they get back in they won't try again to destroy our freedom of speech & free press.
Hopefully Tony Abbott will vanquish Rudd, see him off for good, so that we never have to go through such political convulsions & appalling behaviour again.
This crop of MP's really should lose their seats & Labor should look at itself & it's behaviour of which has left the party in such a parlous state with the voters.

Well I wish one of our media sources would clear up some important things ...as a matter of public importance .
here in May (the last info I could find .if anyone can find more on MSM after that date and before recent confusing info please post it)
Tony Abbott's Legal team pro bono
here in The Australian ...August 21 2013
Earlier this year, One Nation co-founder David Ettridge launched a $1.5 million Queensland Supreme Court lawsuit against Mr Abbott, alleging the then-Howard government minister acted criminally and maliciously when he helped bankroll civil litigation, through the Australians for Honest Politics trust, against Pauline Hanson's party in the 1990s.
Mr Joyce said the Liberal and Nationals blanket ban on doing preference deals with One Nation was "behind the times" and that vilification of the party by his side of politics should end.
"All that is behind the times and should be well and truly behind us," he said.
In June, Mr Ettridge dropped his lawsuit against Mr Abbott saying he was preparing to file a new lawsuit in the Federal Court.
Mr Abbott has defended his role in establishing the trust, saying "everything I did back then was justifiable and justified".

abc Aug 26 2013
In May, Brisbane's Supreme Court told Mr Ettridge to resubmit his claim, saying the initial documents had been filed in the wrong format.

LL: "the ABC isn't biased, its simply that it isn't biased enough toward the right that annoys 'some' John Howard appointed the board. the director is john howards friend.. biased ? john howard and his friends ? good luck with that"
I think it is now a matter of shoot Aunty as well because she is broadcasting an unpalatable reality!
"Once elected to power, Labor prime minister Whitlam replaced the entire board - appointed by Liberal governments over the previous 23 years - with supporters of the Labor Party. His successor, Malcolm Fraser, attempted unsuccessfully to take similar action by replacing the board with politically conservative commissioners in 1976, but was only able to make new appointments by adding two extra director positions onto the board"
A 2004 Roy Morgan media credibility survey found that media professionals regarded ABC Radio as the most accurate news source in the country.
Research undertaken by the broadcaster in 2007 indicated that out of a total of 19 former employees moving into party political positions, 10 have joined the Labor Party, and 9 the Liberal Party.
The MD was appointed in Howard's reign LL, However he was reappointed for a further 5 years in 2010!!
James Spigelman, Maurice Newman as chairman of the ABC in 2012, he was appointed after a merit selection process. The appointing ALP government consulted the Opposition about Spigelman's suitability to be appointed ABC chairman and received no objection, and in fact significant support.
Stop shooting the messenger/broadcaster.

as i said, less biased. that lot think them biased because Bolt says so (ha)
but there was one survey/ study carried out on australian media outlets in about 2010 or 09 that concluded they (the ABC) where the most biased of all ..
the comments you make about board selections merely demonstrates that Labor have not sought to 'fix' the ABC in the last two terms. that is admirable
