Not the ABC, the KSC
Am I the only one who has noticed that the ABC’s summer (and other times, too) television programming is dominated by two incredibly irritating Pommy prats, Kevin McCloud and Stephen Fry? I cannot bear either of them and yet, we have program upon program compered by these two self-centred half-wits.
Take Kevin McCloud (we call him Harry High pants, check out the early series) – what a green-obsessed, pretentious tosser. The other night we caught a bit of a program where he was in effect berating the not-very-well-off couple for ordering a kit home. What – not a kit home? What they really should have done, according to Kevin, is commission an architect to design some completely impractical and expensive abode made out of driftwood and hemp.
And as for Stephen Fry, who evidently thinks Australians should be incarcerated because of our annoying accents (the upward inflexion at the end of sentences does not go down well with this Oxbridge educated bore), is on program after program, including the ridiculous and dreary QI. This program really needs to be renamed - NI.
To be frank, I would rather have repeats of repeats of some of the entertaining drama and comedy produced locally for the ABC – The Library, The Moodys, The Slap, The Time of our Lives, Upper Middle Bogan, etc. Anything but more Kevin and Stephen.
by Judith Sloan.
I'm afraid I have to agree 100% with Judith's complaint. Weeks & weeks of re runs of Grand Designs & now they have gone back to when Kevin had hair. And Stephen Fry! OMG... he's everywhere, pretentious bumptious snob, I'm so sick of him.
Solved! Go to Solution.

The ratings do not begin until the second week of February, so lotsa rubbish is what we get until then.

If the ABC wants to have a summer programme that is filled with reruns & English programs why can't they re run Australia's excellent programmes instead. We have been inundated with Fry personal crusades for years & McLeod is a a snob no denying that.
Please don't try to make this about politics, nothing to do with politics. Please don't cast aspersions reply to the post and please don't make it personal, many jumped on here simply to have a dig.
The programmes themselves are good but the puffed up importance & the snob factor of McLeod & the bumptious over exposed Fry is tiring to say the least and we are going to be hit over the head soon with another Fry personal crusade,no wonder he's starting to get on everybody's nerves.
That is an opinion I have and I'm entitled to it.
He is not getting on my nerves so don't imply that he is, by all means speak for yourself but don't make such outlandish claims which can be disproven just by my comment.

I think what Bump is telling you is 'Please don't say "no wonder he's starting to get on everybody's nerves." When what you really mean is "He's getting on my nerves.
As for being entitled to your opinion - entitlement doesn't come into it. An opinion, however blinkered or ill-informed is simply the way a person feels about something. Nobody can prevent anyone from having an opinion. The question is whether you are entitled to express that opinion - which of course, you are.

He doesn't get on my nerves so you don't speak for me either.
In fact his new series starting Monday night on homophobia is going to be fascinating. As is any show he associates himeslf with. I think because all his topics are so personally related to him, his topics are so much better than if some random presenter hosted the shows. Personal crusades always make for the most interesting insights.
Perhaps you should watch it silverfaun and see for yourself.

@silverfaun wrote:I read a lot thanks Deb but I do agree with you that the low rent programmes we have to suffer all through summer is not what we expect from our ABC.
They recieve over a $ billion a year of taxpayers money & we are treated with disdain.
I am not sure how much does ABC receive to produce all the different services they provide, but I do know that their funding has been greatly reduced over the years. People working for ABC do not get paid as much as people doing comparable jobs in commercial channels, and commercial channels of-course get their funding by running commercials, which we all pay for every time we buy something, and they spend it on overseas produced **bleep**. I am happy to pay my 8c a day for the ABC. I just wonder why the people who complain about 2 programs, which in this moment are on only 1.5hour a day 5 days a week, do not just switch over to the commercial channels; surely there should be something adequately low brow that would be to their liking.
I enjoy watching Kevin while I cook dinner, and I love Stephen to bits; he is intelligent and witty, his humour can be caustic but never nasty; he is interested in many diverse topics. Stephen would be my choice of a person to sit next to for a very long flight. 🙂

Why? Was she the one who said kevin mcCleod was starting to get on everyone's nerves?
As far as I could see, she was merely pointing out the fallacy in your statement - I wouldn't call that offensive?
