Foodland
In future weeks,Foodland will be developing ways to better identify Australian grown and canned fruit ,tomatoes and baked beans/spaghetti on our shelves. This is to encourage our customers to buy these products rather than the many imported products being dumped in our marketplace. It is important that we highlight the uncertain future facing Australia's packaged fruit canning industry because of these imports. We therefore encourage all our loyal customers to support Australian growers and manufacturing jobs by purchasing Foodland brand canned fruit, baked beans, spaghetti and tomatoes which all are produced at the SPC factory in Shepparton Victoria. Also SPC,Goulburn Valley and Ardmona branded products need the same support.
So read the labels carefully and buy Australian.
Lets hope that Coles and Woolies have to follow their leed

The truth was not told, whether it was deliberate or not, who knows.
As for Cadbury receiving funds because they are classified as a tourism asset, so is SPC. They have bus loads of ppl every week buying up at the factory outlet. The outlet chalks up around 250.000 transactions per year. SPC hold factory tours too.

US oranges (and grapes & cherries) are imported in Australia when it is the off season for the oranges and grapes grown here.. they aren't competition for Aust fruit.
Importation of FRESH fruit not in season here, allows oranges (and other fruit) to be sold all year around here.

I think we can clearly state now that the lies told about the SPC wages and conditions by Abbott and co. were absolutely deliberate.

Clearly marked as Australian produce.. canned tomatoes. This brand does cost about 80c more per can than imported.
The home brand canned tomatoes have been imported ones.

In small print it tells what kind of beans, where they come from and what kind of tomatoes are used. The same bold print labels are on all other products, like fruit etc.

Does Tony Abbott actually know what he is talking about?
SPC wages agreements have nothing to do with the company loosing out on sales. Does he want Australian workers to work under third world conditions and wages?
What about all the perks for the PM and other MPs? And it won't be long before they will agree to an increase in their salary.
I hope someone with a straight jacket will catch him soon and put an end to all that idiotic nonsense.
And NO, I did not vote for either party.

When we first started buying Australian made a few years ago it was near impossible to find stuff. You had to read the labels really carefully and most of our stuff was bought in bulk after writing to various factories and producers around the country (I still have about 1 years worth of Cedel toothpaste in the linen press!!).
But it is much easier now. Most labels display it clearly on the front (the smart ones do anyway).
Also I scour the bottom and very top shelf in the supermarket and pharmacies - this is where they put the brands that don't pay a premium for shelf space. So this is where you will usually find the products by the smaller Australian producers and companies who can't afford the marketing that the big labels can.
