Foodland helps SPC and Ozzie food growers

In future weeks,Foodland will be developing ways to better identify Australian grown and canned fruit ,tomatoes and baked beans/spaghetti on our shelves. This is to encourage our customers to buy these products rather than the many imported products being dumped in our marketplace. It is important that we highlight the uncertain future facing Australia's packaged fruit canning industry because of these imports. We therefore encourage all our loyal customers to support Australian growers and manufacturing jobs by purchasing Foodland brand canned fruit, baked beans, spaghetti and tomatoes which all are produced at the SPC factory in Shepparton Victoria. Also SPC,Goulburn Valley and Ardmona branded products need the same support.
So read the labels carefully and buy Australian.

Lets hope that Coles and Woolies have to follow their leed

No Foodland here but Dick Smith does a pretty good job of supporting Australian grown/made - I know some here say he is an idiot, could be right - but I like his "As Australian As You Can Get" campaign.

It's not hard to buy Australian - you've just got to read the label.

I'd say 95% of food we buy in our household and have in our pantry is Australian made. We've been at it for about 5 years now and it is simply second nature for us to check the label on EVERYTHING we buy even before we check the price.

t does cost us a bit more and sometimes you have to go out of your way to find the products but it's worth it so many different ways in the long run.

Having met Dick a few times I found him extremly switched on an has a positive and exciting personality that gets those around him motivated.

While that was many years ago I dont think he would have changed that much and became an idiot, only those he disagreed with would suggest that as he was very focused.

If companies were smart they would use HUGE BOLD FONT to say MADE IN AUSTRALIA

Make it as easy as possible for us to know that you are the product we are looking for.

That's great news thanks Hawk.

I always check the little stickers on the fruit and veg to make sure I'm buying Aus produce.

I've got a big bee in my bonnet about US grown oranges. The region here used to be all orange orchards until they were all ploughed into the ground when our borders were opened to free trade back in the 80s.

Icy, the BIG problem is that we are honest and do the right thing by the trade rules yet the US still subsidised it's produce and sent it here way cheaper that anyone could make it.

For free trade with a place like the US they must have NO government assistance in place.
