A recent lawsuit filed against Nestle Purina PetCare Company is claiming that one of the company's most popular dog food brands contains toxins that are poisoning and even killing people's pets.

The lawsuit, filed in California federal court earlier this month by pet owner Frank Lucido, alleges that thousands of dogs have become ill or died as a result of eating Beneful dry kibble dog food.

Lucido and his family owned three dogs — a four-year-old German Shepherd, an eight-year-old English Bulldog and an 11-year-old Labrador — and began feeding the pets Beneful exclusively beginning in late December or early January,

By the end of January all three of the dogs became ill and the English Bulldog eventually died, according to the suit. A post-mortem examination revealed signs of internal bleeding in the dog's stomach and lesions on his liver. Similar symptoms were found in Lucido's German Shepherd, who became violently ill before the bulldog's death. A veterinary exam of the dog also showed signs of internal bleeding and liver malfunction "consistent with poisoning," the lawsuit said. Lucido's two remaining dogs remain in veterinary care, his lawyer said.......

Lucido's story is similar to more than 3,000 complaints consumers have made online of dogs becoming ill and in some cases dying after eating Beneful kibble style dog foods, according to the complaint. The consistent symptoms reported include stomach internal bleeding, malfunction or failure of the liver, vomiting, diarrhea and weight loss.

The lawsuit claims toxins in Beneful are to blame, listing propylene glycol and mycotoxins as possibly harmful substances in the dog food.

Supercoat is another one I use. I also buy the PAL one every so often.
I actually tend to mix them together.

Still think alternating and mixing all types of food and brands is the way to go,
Plus fresh meat of course.

My last dog lasted 17.5 years (kelpie) and still had a superb physique and coat when she died.
Even the vets commented.

I googled  Toxic Food from China several years ago and found

an article where around 4,000 pet dogs in the USA had died from a contaminated

shipment of dog food from China

cant remember what it was but I think that one was cans

It was just about all the well known brands, dry , can and "moist".  It was a huge scandal, there was alist of about 200 separate products, all containing rice meal from China.  The Chinese added Melamine because when tested it shows as protein, and they wanted the food to be high protein.  Then few years later they added Melamine to baby formulas - obviously did not learn, despite that several people in management responsible for the dog food fiasco were executed.

I have to admit I still feed my dogs some commercial food (kibble) and I also never buy the same brand 2x in the row.  My dogs also get fresh meat (human consumption grade) and all sorts of other stuff.  And I never do gradual change LOL .  Dogs are natural scavengers, if they cannot take change of brand of kibble, there i something seriously not right with them.

In this moment I alternate Canidea (salmon one) , Natural Choice, Royal Canin and always watch for some new brand to try.  Never give can, that is a total waste of money, mostly water.  Fresh meat is cheaper  value for kilo.

this is why I am a very serious advocate of not buying anything edible that can be linked to China

and you can add New Zealand to that list

Apparently China have a processing plant in New Zealand

export all there toxic produce there and it gets a New Zealand label on it

we cant win whether it be dog ,human or baby food omg

hell bent on exterminating western civilization and their pets

have you ever tried to shop and exclude these two countries from your trolley

pretty near impossible

I found one of the best meats for dogs was Kangaroo, chopped, dced or minced.
Went well with kibble etc.

Really made the coats good.

I saw a comment before about human grade meat. Not being critical of them but I think it is good to feed dogs rough meat,
Including cartilage, bones, gristle and not keep everything totally too sterile because they were never meant go be that way.

my dogs love kangaroo

only give now and again bit expensive

I have know farmers in the past that only fed their dogs kangaroo

I used to feed my dogs chicken necks which I heard were ok

until one of my dogs got a throat infection scratched from a bone

a butcher recommended to me beef Brisket

has hard cartiledge as apposed to bone gives them something to chew on is relatively inexpensive

although it should be a treat and not given solely as a staple because it has a lot of fat and will make them overweight

Farmers only feed their dogs kangaroo because they can walk out the back gate and shoot one.
Thats where I got most of mine from. Its also free and a renewable resource.

Brisket is good. I buy them now for my dog.

I'm not a stirrer, i just tell it like it is. If people don't like the truth or the facts of life,
It's not my problem. They can still buy their meat nicely wrapped on a
very UN environmentally friendly plastic Tray at Coles

I will never hide the fact I shoot and hunt, including Kangaroos.
And almost 80. - 90 % gets used.

As opposed to buying meat which I also do.

this is only my opinion

no scientific evidence to back it up

I believe you can monitor the health of your dog by their poop

as people they should not be continously constipated or loose

and if its green or brightly colored there is something amiss

some food have excessive dyes that come through

why there is a need to put dyes in any food is cause for suspision
