Still only talk.   Nothing will happen unless/until all states are in agreement.

Mike Baird NSW Premier wants to raise it to cover medicare . The PM is hinting he's not against it. Ecocomists say it still won't cover the medicare shortfall.

All states do not have to agree for the federal government to enact.

When anyone says that they are playing games.

The first obstacle to changing the GST would appear to be gaining the unanimous support of the Commonwealth, states and territories for any proposal. However, it has been suggested that, despite the agreement set out in the IGA, the Commonwealth would be legally free to disregard the IGA and amend the GST legislation unilaterally. That is because legal experts suggest that the IGA is not legally binding, but merely a political agreement.

It's nothing more than a poorly disguised tax on the disadvantaged.

Let's chase up the corporate tax dodgers and the really wealthy private citizens who can afford to pay more but who can also afford to wriggle out of their tax obligations.
