THere ARE beliefs out there that are dangerous. If you have a divine book that supports genocide and threatening non believers, or affecting the education of kids, would that not bother you? You just have to think how someone perfectly moral and kind and sane would strap a bomb to their body and blow themselves up with people around him then you would realise how certain beliefs are dangerous.  

The basic Moslem belief is harmless and loving, but as happens with just about everything, there are the extremists, including those on these message boards who will go out of their way to cause upset and harm.

There's been more than most people can remember of the Christian extremists too and some of the ugliest and disgusting acts carried out in the name of Christianity, so I see no reason to point the finger at only the one belief system.

If you do it shows you to be an extremist of yet another kind.

it was. Everyone seemed to agree on common ground stuff. I was particularly impressed by the Muslim and what he said about the Islamic beliefs and how he condemned the 911 etc. The Bishop did very well too up until the very last comment... and then it fell apart a little ... I would be interested in what you think after you see it. It was also interesting to read the comments at the bottom of the screen - sent it from ... twitter?

Just finished watching it.  I agree, I really liked what the Muslim Professor had to say, I agree with the twitter comments that it is a shame moderate Muslims are not receiving wider exposure.   No surprise about his comments regarding homosexuality,  similar to what  the Catholic Archbishop said.  Perhaps Fr Bob would have done a better job  

I think if the program continued,  the Muslim Professor would have expressed a similar view as it is also Islamic view that homosexuality "clashes with the natural order in which God created human beings".  I think the Professor handled it very well  by stating from the beginning that he needed to be completely honest about the Muslim view on homosexuality.  Robina Courtin being a Tibetan Buddhist nun - I would have liked to have heard more from her about the subject. 

The question on Catholic celibacy, obvious conclusion; sex abuse is not a symptom of celibacy.  The Church's understanding of how to deal  pedophile priests was pathetic, I think the Archbishop said.    Again, I was hoping the Buddhist nun would comment on the subject of celibacy since Buddhist monks and nuns consider sex as a serious monastic transgression.  I did see her agreeing with the Archbishop when spoke about celibacy though.

I just watched the Q and A.  I often get annoyed when religious claim to know things that they couldn't possibly know like Heaven or hell. 

I think the archbishop contradicted himself so many times he made the Catholics look bad. Why the catholic church cares so much about homosexuals is beyond me??? 

I like the buddhist lady. I like her philosophy. I like the muslim guy too. Well spoken.

If you listened to Robina Courtin carefully, (I know she was going a bit fast) she did say there were just as many restrictions regarding sexual life in Buddhist text, however Buddhist approach is more realistic.

Didn't you recently say that you respected trbag because he followed the Bible teachings as they should be?  that he was a true Christian?

The Church loves the homosexual the same as it does the heterosexual. Cathoilics are taught that every person must be treated with respect, compassion and sensitivity. Every act or thought of hatred, violence or persecution towards the homosexual is condemned.

However, you have to remember that the Micks consider ANY sexual activity outside of marriage sinful and immoral - I.e. self gratification, pornography and even artificial contraception.

So that's why they "care" about the homosexuals - it's not just them, it's anyone engaging in sexual activity outside of their marriage.

It's in Genesis somewhere something about a man being joined to his wife and becoming one. and God created male and female and told them to be fruitful and multiply (I wonder how many bunnies are Catholic?)

It doesn't. But when the Pope and Catholic church makes such a big deal about homosexuality such as it's as a serious issue as say our environment or global warning in his public annoucements to billions of people around the world or when they announce that gay marriage is the death of society or that gay people shouldn't adopt . 

And what's the Catholic's church's views on condoms or what they teach???

WHere has Islam made global announcements like this against gays???
