Good Morning

Good morning all

I have had the same mower here for over 20 years it starts second pull ever time, its had a number of new sets of blades, regular oil change about every five years a couple of spark plugs and air cleaner cleaned.

The secret I believe is to keep them in a shed away from damp and moisture and to treat the petrol container you keep its fuel in like its gold, dirty fuel or contaminated fuel is the biggest issue with small engines.

OH is MR. fix it with mowers he loves fixing them up  at the odd time he has brought home a couple of mowers oldies and fixed them up and then given them away to people who don't have one that can't afford to go buy one either.

Good Morning

i just got my mower back and hawk was spot on - fuel line and carby were full of gunk from dirty fuel.

early in its life i did leave this mower under a bush at the mercy of the elements for a couple of weeks and have always had problems with it as payback.

now that i have it back and running its pouring rain so can't mow.

that last section of the lawn that didn't get done will soon be long enough to cut for hay  lol

Good Morning

I got bigger problems than long grass Pepe. A few weeks ago OH cut back a very very large lemon tree and piled the branches on the back lawn to dispose of. Then he got sick....... So now they are dry as a bone and dead leaves are everywhere. I cant see him getting back to that job for a while.

Good Morning

thats a good idea hawk, i kept one of my mowers in a small open shed but that wasnt good enough [ luckily i collect old mowers from council collections for either spare parts or get them going again too (tessa :-))] the trottle cable completely seized - replaced it & after that the fuel tank needed to be taken out and cleaned out because it wouldnt start. i keep them both in my extention room now as theres not enough room in my garage

tas that sounds like a commercial quality mower with extra grunt! i like those, great for large yards that have the tendency to grow long grass

Good Morning

Afternoon Hawk xxx

Yes, you are absolutely right about maintaining the lawnmower.  I think our problem was that too, plus not getting high quality mowers ...  Smiley Frustrated  We've learned our lesson though, and now get the thing serviced regularly, keep it dry and clean, no problem since ...  Smiley Embarassed

Good Morning

Hi friends 🙂 XXX I am home from the Christmas party, it was a little bit ok, as far as Christmas parties go. They're a bit like New Year's Eve parties IMO, never quite as fun as you expect them to be. I personally prefer heading to the city or fireworks with my friends on New Year's Eve and never accept New Year's Eve invitations.

That's good advice about lawn mowers, hawk. I keep mine in the shed but the building is very old and has a resident snake. It sleeps behind building materials stacked against the back wall. So, every time I get my mower out, I first have to get the broom and chase the snake out. I think it's a brown snake, but I'm not sure. Perhaps I should try and take its photograph so my very dear and good friends here can help to identify it 🙂 Heart XXX xox Heart 🙂
