Now the immigration has not got much to do , might be a good time to offer amnesty to currently resident er " visa overstayers and hopeful" candidates and bestow conditional permanent visas , in order to enable better managing of Australia ,and so when International travel is opened , concentrate on keeping the uninvited out rather than rounding them up - both of which we had not being bothering much about if they merely flew in on a tourist visa without fuss and publicity
Out of sight out of mind will not cut it soon when the economy starts to adjust to new consumer spending and ramps up output of goods and services with resultant demand for labour , now drawn from local sources
