and to savour that last bite's yummyness as I am cutting the next 😛
but...whatever one is used to I guess works the best 🙂
I have a hard time enjoying it when I have all that work ahead of me...you know, cutting, chopping trimming.
I trim off all the fat and bone, AND then chow time!
You're right about the juices though. To deal with that I just pour some of the hot juices in the pan over the nicely cut up ready to go steak bites! At a restaurant I settle for some hot gravy.

Why would you want to perpetuate another myth about the US? I'd like to know where these huge plate fulls are being served, because we'd be able to feed all the poor people with them, lol.
Hi Jimmy
I spent a month in the US in 2012 (NYC, Orlando, LA, Las Vegas), the quantity of food on a plate for a meal (lunch or dinner) was large (compared with Australia).
Soft drinks came in large cups.
Sandwiches with stacks of meat in them (good meat) and 1 piece of lettuce. Lucky to get one or 2 slices of meat here, with heaps of salad type stuff in them.
Obesity is a problem in the US & Australia -- too much fast food the problem?
Yes...those gaint cups of soda are a killer and they are making things smaller to deal with that exact problem. Fast food is only part of the problem and I'm constantly hearing about little changes here and there to fix it. The type of oil everything was cooked in was a huge problem. That oil is now illegal at any place that serves food. (in New York...I'm not sure about other states).
I'll start taking pictures of food I get from different places and start a thread to compair them with your foods.
The United States FDA has issued a preliminary determination that partially hydrogenated oils (which contain trans fats) are not "generally recognized as safe", which is expected to lead to a ban on industrially produced trans fats from the American diet.

Edit: And hello to you too! 🙂

steppe, what do you do to pay it forward? do you volunteer?
Sin, what does "pay it forward" mean. I am learning so much from the American threads, it's great.

hi debden, pleasure to meet you! 🙂
the phrase originated (to my knowledge)with a movie called "pay it forward". it was about a little boy who's teacher gave them a class assignment to do something that COULD possibly change the world. so the little boy decided that it would be cool to pay favors forward to 3 people. here's the imdb link-http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0223897/?ref_=nv_sr_1
for me,paying it forward is usually cooking, like with the food bank. the people who are shutins that benefit from my cooking, they are who i'm paying it forward to. i've been blessed with people who have helped me during bad times,so this part of how i show my gratitude, helping others.

Paying it forward means that instead of paying back the giftor, like say a food bank, if one has received goods from a food bank, they pay it forward in another direction. A slight difference between paying it forward and paying it back.
Like this, say a man holds the door for me, I could pay it forward to some other stranger and help them put their groceries in the trunk, just for an example.

Sin, if you don't mind me saying.....I'm going to say it anyway, lol.

Sins explaination suits the meaning just fine and your trolling of others over here shines a bad light on all of us.
So why don't you take it elsewhere! And you know EXACTLY where that would be. You have a personal invite.

I read it as - if you do someone a good turn, then ask them to play it forward and help someone else in turn.
I was at a checkout on holidays in Queensland once and this teenager in cricket whites had a large bottle of chocolate milk but was a little short when they scanned it. I gave him the money and asked him to do someone else a good turn in payment - "playing it forward".

Yeah, exactly, except you don't necessarily have to ask them to pay it forward, but you can.
Really it's just common courtesy in a lot of it, but it could also be with some bigger things in bigger ways. More random in paying something forward because when someone pays something back it is specific to whomever did them the favor, courtesy, charitable act.

you know, steppe,i DID say it was PART of my gratitude to those who helped me in the past. i'm positive i never said i don't pay back a favor done for me. but i DO add to the payback by paying forward. it makes me shine! 🙂
and jftr,i've never received anything from the food bank. i help them help others, with MY money, and MY time. because of the peeople who help me when i need it. like mowing my lawn,or shoveling my car out after a snowstorm. it's what my friends want me to do,and they do too! when i help them with research online,THEY pay it forward in their way, see? it's all about friendship being extended to strangers, you know? it's a happy thing 🙂
no problem, jimmy, you have a right to say whatever you choose to say.
and thank you!

Yes, I know exactly what you meant.
And no, I take full and personal and sole responsibility for my posts, jimmy. No need to share it with me.
