I like my middle name.  I'd be happy if my parents had chosen it as my first name instead of what I got.  It has no special significance though.  The story goes that they picked it out of the school swimming results in the local paper Woman Surprised

My children's middle names are all family names after fathers and grandfathers.

My brother was given a middle name, the same as his fathers' My fathers middle name was his Grandfathers first name.

My sister, the first born didn't get a middle name

I wasn't supposed to either, but Dad mucked up on the form and I did end up with one. No-one knew this until I had to get a copy of my birth certificate for something or other.

My sister didn't give her daughters middle names.  When one of them got married recently she just added her husbands name onto hers, making her maiden name into her middle one.  No hyphen, just changed from Mary Jones to Mary Jones Brown, now known as Mary Brown.
