Yesterday, at the nursing home, a 90 yr old was reading the paper to us and said
BACKFLIPSKI, what word is that? I can't understand it, never seen a word like that in my life!

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has threatened to extend the parliamentary sitting calendar into Christmas during a joint party room meeting consumed by fiery speeches about an ''unbalanced'' ABC and a joking suggestion that former MP Sophie Mirabella could take over the running of the national broadcaster.
Parliament is scheduled to finish for the year on December 12, but Mr Abbott told the Coalition party room that he was prepared to keep sitting from the week starting December 16 and beyond over four issues โ the carbon and mining taxes, temporary protection visas and the debt ceiling.

Well Donna, who would you be expecting to make these comments?
All of those ridiculous lies, headlines and cartooons demonising Rudd and Gillard all came from the same sources - Murdoch/Pickering/Bolt/Jones. Other media outlets do not behave so unprofessionally.
Other media outlets like Fairfax media and the ABC can actually critique a government (labor or Liberal) without the ridiculous name calling and headlines. Heck! they are even prepared to put a name to their articles and opinions instead of the anonymous garbage posted by Murdoch media.
Interestingly, while the Abbott government is flailing and stuffing up there has barely been an acknowledgment by any of those sources. Want to read about the Gonski backflip in the Telegraph? You'd be hard pressed to find an article, let alone giving it the kind of front page headlines even the minor issues elicited whilst labor was in government.
However, let's wait a bit. Let's wait until Abbott does something that Murdoch isn't happy about. It shouldn't be too long before this happens. Then we will see the 'Phoney Tony' campaign in full swing.

Such a stupid 'threat'. Why doesn't he just create a naughty corner in parliament?
Whilst the Opposition may be used to having their 2-3month Christmas break, most hardworking politicians in government don't have an issue with this and most work through anyway. Perhaps Abbott has never realised this?
Well it will comeas a bit of a shock to his Ministers won;t it?

Can anyone detect a whiff of desperation from this incompetent mob ? Now Abbott is pulling a "Headmaster to a naughty schoolboy" stunt with his "you'll all be staying behind in class until this work is finished" routine. Good to see Kim Carr responding in a calm, measured and appropriate way, unlike the histrionics exhibited by the Government. We're getting to the end of the year and the new Government has nothing to show for their "reign" apart from the negativity and regressive politics (as if they were still in opposition) and a stultifying lack of progress in implementing their agenda (whatever that may be).
Let's just run a sideshow about the supposed impartiality of the ABC rather than the real business at hand.
