Help!!! Domestic question???

I bought new (expensive) sheets and have given them 2 washes as they are charcoal colour and I could see colour running out.
Just making my bed, looking forward to sleeping in new bedding *sigh* and my hands are stained from the tucking & smoothing out!!!

Yikes, how much washing should I do, or is there something I can add that will help with the colour?! So annoying ๐Ÿ˜ž

Thanks in advance to those who answer, I will be back once the toddler is fed, bathed & in bed. ๐Ÿ™‚

hey martini, did you ever get the stains out of your white italian sheets?

I was thinking of asking the same question about the much discussed yellow blob stains on white sheets.

No couldn't get them out. Tried everything.

So from now on, there will be no funny business happening on white sheet days.

Help!!! Domestic question???

I bought Aldi flannelette sheets, a brown colour, a couple of years ago. Dreadful, I washed them 10 times and still heaps of colour running out.
I have never had a problem with Aldi bedding until these sheets.
And they were not cheap either, I hate them.

I was just reading an article in the Dailey Telegraph about a recall of clothing coloured with cancer causing dye. Bedding retailer pillow talk also recalled items coloured with 'azo dyes' known to break down into carcinogenic chemicals. These items have been imprted from a chinese importer.

Your thread about your sheets concerns me.

This is the story in The Australian.

But they are fine Italian vintage linens. So I don't think so. Smiley Happy

Kyley, I have been doing some research on the net re. Chinese dyeing.....clothes and bed linen.

Please don't let your children use those sheets and breathe toxic fumes. .

Me?  I only buy Australian made bed linen.

Freshwater.... I'm worried about sleeping in them now!
How can I find out if they are safe? ๐Ÿ˜ž

Kylie,  I googled.......Dyes used in China for clothes and bedding.

It is a given that they use formaldehyde (as well as other chemicals) in clothes to make them crease resistant, including children's clothing.

It sounds to me like your sheets will leak chemicals throughout their use.

The price you paid was well worth learning about what is safe for your family.

I have no doubt this practice isn't confined to China.
