Hey, new topic, lookee here ......

The Help ...........Has anyone read this book and loved it as much as I'm loving it?  They've made a movie too which I can't wait to

see once I've read the book.  I'm a readaholic and am thrilled when I find something that is so original and

stand out for me like this one.........

Hey no worries -  I think It's getting a bit mixed up though.  As far as i know GWTW was a fiction and the only book

Margaret Mitchell wrote, and someone else wrote a sequel called Scarlett?  It is set in the times of slavery.

I believe The Help is a fiction too though obviously based on a lot of research.  It's had tremendous

reviews.  It's got nothing to do witgh GWTW and is set in the 1960s and cuts through the hypocrisy of the upstanding

white folk in the South with their 'help', the black folk who were still treated like scum though in a more genteel

fashion.  Anyway I'm loving it, the characters leap out at you.

Not to derail this thread but I have read a book called "Incidents in the life of a slave girl" by Harriet Ann Jacobs, written in 1861, true story. Was a kindle freebie a few yrs ago. Interesting read.
