If they win the election, the Coalition may stop reporting how many people arrive by boat in Australia to claim asylum.

Gee whizz! A secret society?

i didn't see that. so, they dont inform the public ? they can then say 'the policy has stopped the boats' and there is no way of testing the claim ? if that is the case.. it shows little faith in their own chances.

Talk of it in the Financial Review.

Not surprising, they are cunning and secretive so far in the campaign.

shows they have little faith in their own policies ,fear that the same tactics that they have used may be used on them

AND for me,the most distrurbing thing ..very little repect for the Australian pubic's  Democratic right to be informed.

Tony Abbott "Misleading the ABC is not quite the same as misleading the Parliament as a political crime".

and "there are some things the public has no particular right to know'.

what has he said on Freedom of the press ?

If we,the Australian public have no right to know the policy costing (if we can't do the sums ourselves that is),the numbers of new arrivals ...is there then no need to lie to the ABC or any other media source (which give us our info) ...and what are we actually going to be told ?

Today's DIY  thread is bordering on the ludicrous,  Myopian also!

There would be very many people involved in the whole asylum process,  so suggesting  that it could be kept secret,  when even Cabinet meetings/documents or extra curricular activities are not  "privileged", is plain nonsense  and (for INAM) Cyloptic!

UFO nuts are prone to make similar statements apropos secrecy,  i.e.  pilots in the RAF were hushing up  UFO sightings/knowledge. I looked very hard when I was "up there",  and can assure CS readers that "they" were not green !!
