How to stop random people / sales people ringing your doorbell

Put up a sign that says "Please do not ring door bell - BABY SLEEPING!".  This way, everyone who knows you (and knows you don't have a baby) will either ring the bell (cause they know it's a fake sign) or text you to ask whose baby your stole, and pesky sales people won't ring the bell because no one wants to face the wrath of someone who has had their baby woken up!

If you are having a garage sale, there is no point putting up a "no early callers" sign - annoying and rude people ring the bell anyway.  But the "baby sleeping" sign has worked 100% of the time for me!

I used to put up a DO Not Disturb... sick person inside Sign and that worked too....

I have a friend who had a notice on her front door

"Please don't knock Shift worker sleeping" 

this didn't work as some people don't know what a shift worker is.

I don't answer the door unless I'm expecting someone.  And sometimes not even then, LOL.

I had a no sales people one, and it didn't work at all - apparently they were offering me opportunities - not selling me stuff!  RUBBISH!

Also, I have a small, yappy dog.  When I answered the door, the dog would be there, going off and I'd say "The dog bites".  They'd all take a step back.  lols.

But no randoms after my baby sleeping sign 🙂  It's been over a year now, so I thought I'd share the success!

Good idea,

I moved house end of last year. Now have a long steep windy drive.. no door knockers bother to take that on ( there are other villas up here too).

For others I have one of those do not knock stickers on my gate...

Point it out to anyone who knocks and if they ignore it then report them.

Then laminate a sign up saying please do not disturb, call at another time and finally don't answer the door.

I used to have a sign I made that said:

No sales

No marketing

No religion

No charities

It worked. I'd hear them step up to the veranda then turn tail and walk out the gate.  :^O
