So...this AMGEN which Abbott is promoting #ausvotes
http://ow.ly/oPDAW
"In December 2012, AMGEN pleaded guilty to illegally marketing its product Arensep and agreed to pay $US762 million in criminal penalties as well as settlements in related whistle-blower lawsuits. Arensep is a synthetic version of erythropoietin – EPO – an artificial blood booster that stimulates the production of red blood cells. EPO has valuable uses in the treatment of anaemia and in the 1990s was used enthusiastically – and illegally – by endurance athletes in search of an effective energy boost."

funny, was preparin' a thread similar to this this arvo.
now, the points i'd make i'd make, on this topic, are these:
point 1: abbrott's cyclin' gear was worn by abbrot when competin' in past charity rides. as seen on sunday mornin, abbrott continues to wear the suit, wit featured advertisin' placement, large logo on the helmet. abbrott gets followed by media pack, gets maximum exposure for these brands, on prime-time national media; advertising for big (OS-based) private pharmaceutical, sportin' and campin' equipment companies, bloody logos everywhere, on his helmet, all over his cycle suit.
point 2. if these companies paid to supply this gear, is abbrott now endebted/contractually obliged, to keep doin' their advertising for 'em. if so, what form of payment does 'e receive. should he come clean and declare those? will it in any way compromise him in his role as prime minister, to show favouritism towards those companies who have supported him, in the past ? quid-pro-quo for murdoch's support, will we now expect to see murdoch media brand placement also
point 3. it will be totally inappropriate behaviour, for the Prime Minister of Australia, to use 'is privileged position in the public eye, to publically push/endorse these private brands

Doing a great job
The annual “Pollie Pedal” bike ride was started in 1998 by Tony Abbott, along with a number of federal and state politicians as a way to raise money for various charities and also as an opportunity for MPs to get “off the beaten track” and to meet Australians from the smaller communities that are our heartland.
Since it started, Pollie Pedallers have ridden approximately 13,000km, raising more than one million dollars for organisations such as the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Ronald McDonald House, Youth Insearch, and the Paralympic Games as well as medical research into childhood leukaemia, diabetes, breast cancer and prostate cancer.
Last year, with the help of sponsors such as Amgen; Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; Tourism Hospitality & Catering Institute; Alphapharm; Blackmores; Telstra; PaulHartmann Pty Ltd; Macquarie Bank; Bruck Textiles; Medibank; Olsson Industries and Signartist, Pollie Pedal raised over $180, 000 for Student Placements and Specialist Outreach Clinics through the Poche Centre for Indigenous Health. It also supported Pioneer Clubhouse in Warringah.
In 2011, the Pollie Pedal bike ride will again raise money to support the Poche Centre for Indigenous Health within the Sydney Medical School at the University of Sydney. The money raised will be used to fund the successful Specialist and Student Clinical Outreach Placements to regional and remote communities in Western NSW and the Northern Territory. In Warringah it will support STEWART HOUSE.

Tony Abbott also banned Labor members from participating this year. He also claimed expenses for his contribution. Hardly charitbale acts on his behalf these days.

How does that compare with the ethics of Craig Thompson's legal fees being paid for, in part, bu a Labor Government out of taxpayers taxes?
