It's true one doesn't hear too much about German horse racing.
But there have been some fine runners that were bred in Germany, including 2008 Irish Derby winner Frozen Fire and 1998 Breeder's Cup Turf runner up Borgia.
An Irish bred, German trained horse named Star Appeal was voted European horse of the year in 1975 after winning the greatly prestigious Prix de l'arc De Triomphe in Paris, defeating champion racemares Dahlia and Allez France in the process.

And then recently there's this, from  http://thoroughbrednews.com.au/spring-racing/default.aspx?id=73536

"In recent years’ there has been increased interest in both German racehorses and bloodstock. This has come about not only through the on-track performances of horses such as Danedream, Novellist and Pastorius, but also through the progeny of Monsun plus many other quality performers that may not have captured the headlines.

Australian race commentator and broadcaster, based in France and England, Arthur Cooper, has launched a new industry news platform dedicated to the German Racing Season with all commentary in English on www.germanracingreview.com  "

Well there ya go. Thanks for that Shuvee. I never thought of Germany having a horseracing industry. I thought they kept their horsepower mainly under the bonnets of their excellent cars, lol.

Admire Rakti? That was shocking!

The other one too, Araldo. Broke it's leg and had to be put down 😞

The Araldo incident was shocking...some kid was waving a flag around and spooked him.   Stupid thing to do around highly strung racehorses.

As well as a racing industry the Germans are very big in Eventing and Dressage.   They are always up there in the placings at International Events.
